Anyone think that Rob will be red shirted after tonight's game? :shock: Don't think so. This kid can play. Savvy, quick and fearless.

Toby Veal is everything as advertised. Explosive around the basket, great leaper, aggressive rebounder.

D.J. Haley is very solid for a freshman.

I am so glad that Ed came here instead of becoming a professional surfer. He could be a champion. Incredible balance and a lockdown defender, but we knew that.

Jamie will be the man this year. After Joey he will be our most valuable player. He has to shoot foul shots better, though.

Darius was very competent tonight. After a year of Joey's tutelage he is going to be a good 'un. Check that, he already is.

Brad didn't have a particularly good game tonight, for him, but still played well.

brandon 4-14 from the field....average night for the regulars. Veal plays bigger than he is.
 
Rob is lightning fast! Looking forward to seeing the offense run through Mr. Rodriguez. Brandon will find his shot don't worry.
 
Brandenburg looked fantastic tonight. SUPER quick, loved the pressure he applied on Union. Perfect shooting for 10 points, and 3 steals in only 14 minutes. I would pray they don't redshirt him, I'm tryin to watch this kid play!
 
If Rob is this good in his first college game, how good will he be as a senior?

Maybe this has already been answered in another thread, but does anyone have information on how badly Burgess was hurt? He played holding his right hip for most of the game.
 
I was able to catch bits and pieces of the game and Rob surely looked comfortable out there. I see that Haley logged some good minutes, how did he look and is there any word on the lack of playing time for the other freshman (injuries or anything like that)? How about Troy?
 
I agree with Banana, looking forward to seeing the offense with J-Rod running the show. Theus looks great for this point in his development, but as good as he looks individually, the offense looks pretty putrid with him running it.....Joey's energy rubs off on everyone else and they step it up and feed off of him much more than they do with Theus right now.
 
Brandenberg is a player. Definitely the real deal. A shooting guard who can get to the hoop, with real quickness and the ability to very disruptive on defense. Some of the older guys better step it up or they might not get as many minutes as they expected.

Veal was very good and looks like a winner.

Haley was better than I expected.
 
Based on how he played last night no way he should be red shirted especially when Rozzel and Nixon have off nights offensively. Great defense, speed and basketball intuition for this kid. I thought Darius played the point well for a sophomore but we need Rodriguez back ASAP. Burgess looked hurt and had some good moments. Haley, Veal, Daniels and Skeen played steady. Union took it to the Rams in the second half. Overall good effort for the first game but we need the conquistador back.
 
Rob did look good (from what I could see on the internet), but we should keep a little perspective...it was only a D2 exhibition game...hardly top competition. The CAA schedule and some of the better out of conference teams are going to be a lot more rugged than VUU and he won't get to the basket quite as easily in those games. Who is he going to steal time from? Joey, Ed, Brandon, Darius, Troy?...even Burgess could roll at the 2 at times. He's going to be the 4th or 5th guard off the bench. Still, getting any time as a freshman guard on this team would be a major accomplishment.

I can think of 2 or 3 guys if they don't play better than they did last night. And, btw, I think they were playing against D2 competition as well.

Union could beat some teams on our schedule.They would smoke UNCW is their current state.
