I love the new kid Brandenburg. Heck most of us on the board do and some even mistakenly think he might take Ed's spot in lineup leap frogging past Brandon. However, I do have a question?

Exactly what position Rob play? He doesn't appear a good enough ball handler to be a starting point. Doesn't shoot well enough(meaning he doesnt have a killer stroke ala Brandon, Shu, BA) to be a starting 2 guard, and he isn't big enough to play the Wing forward. He appears to me to be a heck of a utility player at this point in his career.

He is an excellent athlete, has the skills to be an excellent defender, and appears to have the ability to be a scorer but doesn't seem to fit anyone of the guard positions perfectly at this point. My take is he as an excellent utility player and should get minutes.

Sometimes I see flashes of Dom Jones, other times I see a little of Antoine Willie with longer arms and more athleticism, or maybe a skinnier shorter Jesse PR (remember Jesse became a better shooter, and ball handler as he matured. .

Again, I love the kid's play and think he will be a good one.

Thoughts?

What do you guys think?

If he keeps this play up we will be calling him Roy Brandenburg

Mad, seems as though coach has running him at all three which must be extremly difficult for a freshman but the kid does not seem lost on the floor-he has great BB sense.I think he will end up being a two, but could possibly end up elsewhere depending on what we have that year. Can't start in front of any of those three? Do you remember Krill who started his jr year but not his senior year-sh*t happens. Being a senior has no special privledges. Could be a monster after 20 or so games?

You know I agree that sh*t happens. Also, he could move up in the line up if he hits his stride and does a Maynor. I really don't see that happening with Brandon and Ed. Not because they are Seniors but because they are that good and it would be shocking to see both mired in a slump such that Rob leaps over both. I do concede that it could happen. But think it unlikely.

I also agree that this kid is really prepared for competition at this level. I loved Kiril and thought he should have started his Senior year. It may have helped us on the boards. Hey Shaka really likes the little guys doesnt he ?

eight games in and we're calling him the next em3

Brandy is not a point guard, a two guard or even a combo guard ...

He's a ........ ForCenGuard ... that means he could play Forward, Center or Guard.

I understand no one calls this snazzy freshman Brandy, but me, but Brandy (by Looking Glass) ranks as my second favorite all-time tune, trailing only Donnie Osmond's rendition of Puppy Love.

He plays so well that VCU fans can't spell his name right

Nothing kills me more than when our own fans have issues spelling our own player's names. Which mispellings occur the most? Jamal SHUler and Wil FamEni. (Spelt Schuler and Famini way too often). Also, it's the Siegel Center (not the Seigel Center). I feel better now :)

However, I do realize mistakes happen when your mind is racing while posting something. That's why there's an edit tab :D

Don't forget Jamie, and not Jaime. ;)

"Definitely" (not to be confused with definately) is definitely the single most misspelled, or misspelt, word in this neighborhood.

As for Brandenberg (without the "u"), his name suggests he might hail from Dusseldorf, sip spritzer from a stein, place Oktoberfest ahead of Thanksgiving on his list of favorite holidays, and prefer wienerschnitzel, with a side of sauerkraut, for a post-game snack.

Sometimes a person's name just doesn't fit them ... the most extreme case I know is Juan Eichelberger, an African-American baseball pitcher from St. Louis who hurled in the big leagues for San Diego, Cleveland and Atlanta ... and spent time at The Diamond, chucking serious fastballs for the Richmond Braves.

As for misspelt Rams, posters basically hoisted the white flag in some instances, opting for "L.F." for Likcholitov and "Kirill," "Pish" and various other nicknames (my favorite was the "star from afar") for Pishchalnikov.
