Brandon Rozzell and Jimmy Martelli return to VCU; Ryan Daly, Chris Cole, and Brett Nelson round out coaching staff

How much turnover took place when Ed replaced Norwood? I don't know the answer, just asking.
I don't know all the numbers.... but I know Coach Stollings & her staff (WBB) Left after 1 year under Ed to follow Norwood to Minnesota.

I know the one Volleyball coach that was there for a while under Norwood, didn't last too long under Ed... forgot his name.

A lot of the staff in the AD followed Norwood to MINN or moved on elsewhere.... and the ones who remained, some of which were given different roles in the AD.

Shaka obviously stuck around til 2015..... Keyes (the baseball coach) was there for a long time until his health took its toll.

Not sure about the rest of the coaching staffs.

I think most of the development team changed out. At least all my contacts left pretty quickly. Rafter, Rollins, Lampe Nate Doughty, the Sr AD that was doing finances that was there for a while and Sofia stayed. It didn't happen all at once. Ed got a lot of heat (whether deserved or undeserved) when he sent the Volleyball coach packing. He pumped the brakes after that or maybe he didnt intend to purge any further. The staff turnover was worse when Norwood arrived.
I have quite a few friends that have worked in athletic departments across the country. The minute an AD or coaching change occus, they almost always know there time is limited. I have friends in the business world. When a leadership change occurs in business, unless there is a merger that creates a redundancy of positions, rarely do they lose their jobs or feel worried.

The entire coaching profession at every level is relationship based. News flash - people have relationships with their family members. This is laughable.
Yeah but when it’s family it’s different. Relationships are earned. Family is given. Maybe given his background he doesnt get this job.

Still meets the definition of nepotism. As to it being laughable, some folks have a strange sense of humor.

Yeah maybe so. But that is the same logic that keeps certain groups of people out of certain jobs. It also hurts great candidates.

IMO when it’s a family member, it’s more egregious and should be held to a higher scrutiny. Not that it shouldn’t happen. Rather, the action should be closely evaluated. For example, if Jr. martelli hires the Dad it’s still nepotism, but the Dad is a stellar candidate. It passes muster.

Further, non-familial relationships are earned. Family is given. Maybe if not for the familial connection and Jimmy’s background he doesnt get this job. Maybe he does. However, it’s still nepotism by your own admission.

IMO, nepotism and cronyism arent good for any industry.

At the end of the day, nepotism, is nepotism. Look up the definition.

Finally, i made that. Post on May 6. That’s over a month ago. Why is this still an issue for you on June 10th?
