Bryon Allen a 6' 3" PG today chose GMU over SMU and Siena having originally committed to WVa. ESPN 90, scout 2 star.

Allen is a strong and powerful guard who is absolutely tough as nails. He has become more of a true point guard within the last year as he's improved his ability to see the floor and distribute the ball, but is still an aggressive playmaking guard.

Is he a thug like the rest or have they changed their approach? Pearson & Morrison come to mind...seriously Huggins passed on the guy?

will this be the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in a row GMU has the most awesome top of the line utterly unsurpassable recruiting class in the entire galaxy??? ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I think VCU probably has a strong argument for best class this year. Mason however has shown that recruiting rankings mean nothing once players hit the court. Cam Long was supposed to be their answer to Maynor and Morrison was supposed to be their answer to Larry Sanders. Neither are close to either player.

We've had plenty of hyped guys that never panned out. Sam Faulk, Renardo Dixon, Lance Kearse, Franck Ndongo and so on and so forth. Recruiting is an inexact science. Our best players in the last couple of years were 2-stars and both will be in the NBA next year.

No doubt Mason will have a good group with Bryon Allen (90 ESPN) and Arledge (88 ESPN). Our class has more people in it and Reco (91) and Juvonte (90) probably stack up better, especially with Bradenberg, Haley, and Veal. For all the hype these guys get, it wouldn't surprise me if the least regarded guy (Haley) ends up being the best of the group, just like Sanders (78 ESPN, #904 overall on HoopScoop) was for our 2007 class (although Joey might just wanna argue with that).

Dixon - Don't let Natty hear you say that!

Kearse - I still think that LK could have been a great get for us. Had he been healthy, and then maintained a positive team chemistry, he could hav ebeen really good. Good thing is, Bradford came in and said, "oh, you don't want this, ok I'll take it, thanks."

Ndongo - Love him. Thought he was a great kid, through and through. I still hope he comes back and coaches, or the U.S. changes it's policy and let's him be President. I'm down with either.

I actually have nothing to add. Your post was correct in your statements. Just wanted to up my thread count, ha. No, but I did want to chime in one those players.

Mason just got a heck of a player

I'm sure you guys who follow these things closely have already posted this somewhere, but GMU just got a very good young ball player in Bryon Allen to commit.

I figured it was elsewhere...I never go over to any other of the forums.

Thank you, ad hoc mod. If we didn't have you, we would have to invent you.
