The Bucks choose big men Tiny Gallon, Jerome Jordan, plus swingman Darrington Hobson.

What does this mean for Larry? Milwaukee traded away a couple of big guys and Thomas appears ready to head out of the door. Larry's got a permanent spot. However, looks like he will have to really bust his butt to stay ahead of his fellow rookies.

I think he can get it done. Let's all hope so.

I don't think that any of the second round choices impact what Larry has to do at all. Regardless of who the Bucks picked in the second round he would have had to bust his butt regardless to stay in the league past his rookie contract.

Hammond (Bucks' GM) also mentioned tonight that they are likely moving Jerome Jordan in a trade soon. Tiny Gallon is not pushing Larry for minutes at any point until he loses a ton of weight. Hobson is a different type of player from Larry as well; he's a combo guard. Andrew Bogut is the only true big on the team right now and Larry should get a good amount of opportunity to contribute early.

If you read the comments in some of the articles I posted in the stickied Larry Sanders draft thread, it's clear that Larry was their guy all along and he fits exactly what they want. Scott Skiles and John Hammond love him:

“He is easily the fastest big in the draft and maybe one of the fastest players, flat out in the draft,” Hammond said. “The guy’s speed from end line to end line is absolutely amazing for a guy his size. And he runs so easy.

“He has great length, is an excellent shot blocker and rebounds the ball. We love the fact he does the simple things; he keeps the ball above his head for easy put-backs. He is still a little bit raw offensively, but we liked his imagination and the fact he feels like he can be a good offensive player.”

Bucks coach Scott Skiles said the team needed to add length.

“We need speed, we need athleticism and we need length, and he has all three of those,” Skiles said of Sanders. “I’m pretty comfortable that he’s going to be able to block shots, rebound and run the floor, and the other things will come around as time goes on.”

That is what I've always told people. I heard so many people complain that Larry was lazy or that he did not put in enough effort. My point has always been that he "runs so easy" that it appears that he is not giving a lot of effort, when actually he is. I've seen him block a shot and be the first one back down the court, and it looked liked he was loafing on the way down. He actually has a certain grace in the way he runs. It makes it appear effortless. But it is far from that. It is athletic. The guy just has the skills.

My guess is that when you took the other players off the court, and just put him running with a stopwatch on him, they got some pretty amazing numbers.

I'm so glad someone else is seeing this in him. He is going to be an amazing player in the NBA. I hope someone develops him to his potential

Really? You're worried about those guys?

We've all seen him handle "tiny" gallon already! That's not the problem Larry has to worry about. That will be staying consistent on the offensive side.

Vince Young syndrome. Look at some video of him playing @ Texas. Guy would just be jogging while making the 11 guys on defense look silly; before you know it, he's gone for 50 yards and a TD.

Tiny Gallon = D League

Speakin' of Sooners....can Willie Warren be at all excited about being a late 2nd round pick of the Clips??

also

Why did the Knicks pass onNYC born and bred Lance Stephenson?

finally

Anyone else surprised Luke Harongody got picked by the Celtics?? Naaaah, me either. Perhaps he;ll look better in Celtic green then Brian Scalabrine

Re: Gallon. You're probably right. He has a very soft touch from outside for his size. He shoots like a guard. He needs to lose a lot of weight though.

Re: Warren. Absolutely not. It's a humbling experience after this season. He was the Sporting News' Preseason Player of the Year in college basketball and a likely top 10 pick before this season. The kid wouldn't take a picture with Kobe Bryant at Kobe's camp because he didn't want to get friendly with someone he was 'gunning for' . Warren has a high estimation of himself and this is definitely hard to swallow I'm sure.

Re: Lance Stephenson. Mostly because Lance has a bunch of character issues and bad people he should be staying away from in NYC. Stephenson plus bad hometown influences= BIG TROUBLE for the Knicks. They couldn't afford to take him. Too many risks.

WOW, I couldn't believe that so I googled it. Turns out that he also told him that he would spot him four in a game to five, and this was back in 2007 when he was still in high school. Best of luck to you Willie!
