I was talking to some people from the AD's office at the VMI game and they asked to get the word out about the bus trips.
They need a minimum number of people signed up to cover the cost of each trip. After that number they make a profit. They are not worried about a profit, but if they don't get to the minimum, they will cancel that trip.
So far the weekend trips seem to be doing OK. But the DU, Towson, and UD trips are just over half way to the break-even point. Not sure about UNCW, it is a weekend trip.
I'll make two points here. We are the ones who ask that these trips be planned. Everyone always asks me about traveling to away game. This is a great way to get started. And second, we have to support the school in these efforts. The players know who comes and goes; who supports them at games. They like to walk onto the court and see a bunch of Ram Fans in the stands, I know this because they have told me. It is also a great way to get to go to see all the different courts we play at. You hear people talking about these places, well now you can get a chance to experience it yourself. Why not set a goal of seeing every CAA court in the next three or four years? You can do one or two a year, and these bus trips are a great way to start.
This year is a little different than in the past. They are trying to to the break-even point early, so that they can be sure they can sell the trips out. So if you have ever considered going on a bus trip, call them up and get your reservations in NOW. If payment is a problem, ask to talk to the person in charge of the trips and see if you can work something out. Right now I think they want to get a good head count.
You don't have to go to every game, just pick one or two and get on board. You have plenty of time to work out the details. The games during the week require you to leave in the early afternoon, so you can get a half of a day of work in before catching the bus. You will get back around midnight, so it is about like watching Monday night football. It just takes a little planning, and by starting your planning NOW, you will be ready to go when the time comes. They are lots of fun, and you don't have to worry about driving in all that traffic.
How about getting a a trip for that special Ram Fan you know as a Christmas gift?? I'm sure if you ask, someone at VCU could come up with a letter or certificate that you could give at Christmas.
So come on people, let's get some support at these games!!! Get on the BUS!
