CAA Schools & Budgets from Zone...

What sticks out to me like a sore thumb is Drexel is 2nd highest in bball budget but 6th place in CAA wins. It doesn't state Bruiser's pay but perhaps they are a little over paid and a change of regime should be in order.

This is a great article--thanks for posting.

I would hope folks would get more emotional about what this is saying [and means] compared to all the "Shaka may be leaving" posts. It's not all about the money, but let's get real. Money is very important and we [VCU] have not done the job we can or should. We want to be consistently considered as a top 50 type team but yet NO CAA school is even in top 100 for bb budgets. The coach we now have we pay half as much as the preceeding coach.

I was always taught you get what you pay for. Luckily for VCU we get much, much more than what we pay for. Can we really expect that to last indefinitely?

Despite the 1838 plastered on much of our merch, we really only began to build a true institutional identity less than 50 years ago... and basketball as a significant part of that didn't get going until a little while after that.

We haven't had generation after generation after generation of legacies like older schools do, so our roots don't spread as wide or as deep... but I think we're heading in that direction, it just takes time.

I will say this though... this NCAA run may provide a splash of Miracle Grow to those roots

Ch-Ching! Hopefully, we'll have some nice dough coming in from this nice little Final-4 run!! ;)

VCU made the Final Four. Those wins bring alot of money to the CAA. When GMU made its run back in 2006, 2 months later in June 2006 the ODU Board of Visitors voted to add football. Will your run be the last straw to break the camel's back and give you or Mason a football program? City Stadium is now VCU property right?

I'm not getting in to a FB talk while our BB season is still happening...but I posted in another thread that GMU did a study to put a number around their Final Four run...in terms of free advertising/marketing...I thought I heard a huge #...did anyone else watch the pre-game when they discussed this...huge dollars like $600MM? That's huge...but its not money in the bank directly...

They said 650 million in free PR before our game. Very impressive. I'm assuming we're getting a similar number as well. VCU administrators have to be ecstatic!
