If we end up tied with Drexel for 4th, what is the tiebreaker if we split head to head-point differential?

Along those lines, I just posted the following in another thread that was moved to Around the CAA...

Obviously, we want Drexel and William & Mary to lose as many games down the stretch as possible. However, what are your thoughts regarding ODU and George Mason? I see they play on Saturday. Who do we want to win? At first glance, I would say Mason as we don't play them again and I believe they would have the tie breaker. However, they also play William & Mary and Northeastern in the weeks ahead. Should they lose all three and we win out, we could hop into third. Thoughts?

The next tie breaker is winning percentage vs #1 team in the CAA

Our at-large hopes are not completely vanquished. It seems a lot of bubble teams are playing some shaky basketball down the stretch. We want Old Dominion and W&M to play well so we can say we have a 4-1 record against the RPI Top 50. If we can beat W&M and ODU once each in the CAA tournament, we'll be looking awfully good in case we can't pull a win out against Northeastern in the tournament finals.

we fail that if it ends up being us tied with drexel because they somehow swept NU, but if its % then if w&m loses saturday then we would have to go to a 3rd tiebreaker with them.

well darn, they beat Northeastern twice-we need lots of help to finish 4th and win our last 4-fat chance.

I follow you regarding ODU but why would we want W&M to win when we're battling against them for the 4th spot? I'd rather not play on Friday!

what I'm about to write makes me a bit nauseous, but oh well

it would help us for the 'narchs to end up in 1st...

assuming there are head-to-head splits, DU would own a tie breaker over us if NU is #1

W&M still has to play NU, so they could get the tiebreaker too, and a loss just makes for a tie

If Mason ends up in first, again we lose the tiebreaker to DU, and again W&M has yet to determine their game, and again if the tribe wins, they win the tiebreaker, if they lose it stays tied

now if the 'narchs end up in first, we would own the tiebreakers over both DU (who lost their only game afaint odu) and W&M (who lost both their games to the narchs) even if we lost in Norfolk

if it's a 3-way tie, I see that W&M wins over Drexel on head-to-head, but we split with the tribe... so I'm not sure if that eliminates DU, and then W&M and we would go to the next tiebreaker, or of there's further complications

Hofstra helped our cause by beating Drexel last night. Now we just have to take care of business.

Bottom line: if we win out and W&M loses at least once, we clinch 4th no matter who ends up winning the regular-season title.

Remember when Hofstra finished something like 4th in the CAA but had a great OOC resume? But the tournament committee used it against them to keep them out of the dance? I have a feeling that's going to be us this year if we don't win out

It will be tough for us to win out, with the last game in ted.

Of course it will be, but we'll be ready, and the team will know what's on the line. Take it a game at a time, underestimate no one, JUST WIN!

W&M host NU then follows with a visit to GMU. I feel they will lose both these games. We win up to the ODU game, then we get fourth. If W&M wins either of their next two games, then it may come down to the tie breaker.

you forgot drexel
