Cary Street Recreation Complex

Haven't been yet but the photo on vcu.edu looks AMAZING. Love the giant climbing wall...need to get over there soon

it is truley amazing. all the basketball hoops have shot clocks, i thought that was a nice touch. and gotta love the black and gold excercise equipment. but why does a gym have elevators? i think that defeats the purpose of going to a gym.

Probably for paraplegics who want to exercise, but can't use the stairs. . .

Yes, Pav cited the common sense answer. There's also the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Cary Street Gym is a public use building and therefore must be accessible to those with disabilities.

what i meant to say was that there were people who were able to walk that were using the elevator and i thought that defeated the purpose of going to the gym

I have major breathing problems. Steps and hills cause me lots of problems. Sometimes I use the elevator at the Short Pump American Family Fitness so that I am not out of breath when I use the equipment. Most of the time I don't show the effects of my breathing problem.
