CBS 6 SPORTS HAS LEARN THAT SETON HALL HAS ASKED AND BEEN GRANTED PERMISSION TO SPEAK TO RICHMOND HEAD COACH CHRIS MOONEY THIS WEEK CONCERING THEIR VACANT POSITION.

THE PIRATES FIRED BOBBY GONZALEZ LAST WEEK FOR OFF THE COURT ISSUES AFTER A 19-13 SEASON THAT ENDED WITH A NIT LOSS TO TEXAS TECH.

MOONEY LED THE SPIDERS TO A SCHOOL RECORD 26 WINS AND THEIR FIRST NCAA TOURNAMENT SINCE 2004.

HE WAS ALSO NAMED ATLANTIC-10 COACH OF THE YEAR THIS SEASON.

But, do I recall Mooney referring to the Richmond job as his "dream job"? I thought I read that somewhere.

He meant the other team in Richmond. The team in black and gold.

Chris Mooney would be perfect for SH. Lots of New England contacts, buttoned down personality but an ability to schmooze with alumni and admin. I don't think he and Coach Hurley at St. Anthony's would have any problems at all.

Plays a variation of the Princeton offense which can be be an equalizer against teams with superior talent. Good recruiter. A builder in the long run a la John Beilein.

A marriage made in heaven.

IF Mooney leaves, wouldn't it just suck to be a UR fan having lost your National Championship Coach in football AND your redeemer Coach of the Year (A-10 & RT-D) in basketball all in one year?

Well, truth-be-told, that's two more reason's it sucks to be a UR fan.

It would be hilarious to see Mooney leave. Then UR basketball can go back to being irrelevant and bite the pillow for Ram basketball again next year.

I've enjoyed the competition between the city rivals. It gets a buzz going and its great to watch us beat them 8 of the last 9 years.

The Spiders do good in football and basketball every now and then. It's certainly not enviable.

If Mooney leaves, the UR athletic department would be smart to get out the checkbook, drive to Williamsburg and get one of the best coaches in the mid-Atlantic, who would also be a great fit at their school [and stay for the long-term].

Yes, another CAA potential lose I'm suggesting. But if we're not willing to pay, should we really keep good coaches?

well mooney obviously not going to Seton Hall but is said to be interviewing for BC job now that Skinner was dumped. A-10 to ACC would be a nice move for mooney.

When you say stuff like this you should also post his quadramaximultplackety record while at W&M. That is gonna get the entirety of the NCAA D1 schools all talking and salivating over him being the coach at their school.

Get serious.

He has been at W&M a total of 7 years. And he has....ok, get ready....are ya ready? Please sit down and take a deep breath......he has 2 whole seasons above .500!!!!!!!!

Hey, I tell ya what....let's see how he has done in the CAA in his 7 years shall we? Well he was tied for 8th place on two occasions....whoopee....in the bottom half of the conference...real shocker there.

Tied again for 10th place one time, tied for 7th place one time, and 11th place one time.

Gee, that is 5 of his 7 years in the CAA in the bottom half of the conference at about 8-9th spot. Holy Moly...now that there is one record that ought to stand the test of time. I can see every AD at every program in the Big 6 conferences and the next 6 just jaw dropped at wanting a record like that for their program.

Ok I could go on but I think you get the idea.
