Coach Phil Martelli Jr. Show, Media Minutes, & Pressers

He is no longer talking analytics over the last 2 games..his vocabulary includes phrases like 'making winning plays' , 'being tougher than the other team' and 'finding a way'..traditional coach speak.
Well he's right about being tougher than the other team. Just as long as he doesn't say fight like crazy and don't fight the game.

You must not have been paying attention because he was even talking about the dribble count.

I’m sure some of the mass com pros on here could nitpick, but from my vantage point, I thought the WVCW reporter did a great job, he was composed, had a plan for the interview and executed pretty well. PMJ was also pretty solid, I can get behind a coach who enjoys a little smack talk…..now fix the defense.

little disappointed in coach's post gamer - he starts off with this woe is me schtick about us playing 3 games in 7 days and we were TIRED (first real time I remember him with so many excuses for a team whose brand is WE PLAY FAST). you can do better there Phil jr - Just stick to saying the obvious we did not come out ready to play and that is on ALL of us including us coaches to have them ready.

and as far as 3 games in seven days he forgot to mention so did Loyola of Chi and so do most teams play 3 games in maybe 8 days on avg in the majority of weeks of the conference schedule portion of the season.

once again we did what we needed to do take care of teams that we should beat handily, though not pretty in the first 10+ minutes - 5 in a row and hopefully 6 next week vs Fordham - getting separation from 4th and 5th place teams

I channel-surfed alot between the two a10 games and I kept thinking when are we going to have a game like St Louis was playing - boy they made the best of their TV game on a Friday night with a home sellout/near sellout - when is VCU going to have that night at the Siegel Center when every possession seems electric and we look a step faster/quicker on every possession

The crowd was as poor as the play in the first ten minutes..really kinda of a sad showing

I give us a pass. They gave us absolutely nothing to cheer about. Not saying that’s OK but we’ve never been great at being loud and rowdy right at the start of games unless it’s a big time opponent and/ or important game with playoffs or post season ramifications.

More a number thing for me. Friday night games on ESPN you could count on a full house

I didn't read it this way. He didn't seem to be asking for anyone's pity. They asked him why we started so slowly. He answered: 3 games in 7 days, late start, unfamiliar schedule. Simply a matter of fact, not an excuse.

The first 10 were tough to watch. We were +27 in the next 30. Won by 15. What did you expect from him?

Sad showing when it's brutal cold with thick ice on the ground you can break your freaking neck trying to walk on- not only a possibility but closer to a probability in our neighborhood 1/8 mile from the stu, where our road hasn't been touched and people are tightrope walking just to get to a mailbox or trashcan IF they can make it there at all which I struggle with and it scares me... Understandable. The fans that are there who might have risked life and limb, like literally, not having a ton of energy after watching the first 9 minutes without a FG and peepoor on D, well, that's a likelihood right there. Unexplainably poor play sucks the life out of a joint.
But it did sound good from our TV. Thanks to all who made it and gave it your best.
