Coach Phil Martelli Jr. Show, Media Minutes, & Pressers

Hey Hey! A rare comment from you here. Ha! Are you feeling like I do about Coach Martelli? I told my wife last night that things were looking fantastic when she asked about him.
I do feel good about our new coach. I know some wondered (were disappointed?) when he was first announced. Wondered about his resume, the breadth and depth of experience. But while he's 43 years old, I think he's 86 in basketball I.Q. He grew up with one of the best college coaches as his father - what do you think they talked about at breakfast & dinner? Bet he was diagramming plays when he was 10. But I like the game he coaches and he's assembled a strong roster in short order. Finally, like Ramdog said, if he is successful here I don't think he's constantly looking for the next job. I think he wants this one to be where he shines. Like his father said "This is a special place" and I think Coach wants to make it even more special. Okay AA, I'm headed back to off-season mode now. Hold down the fort.

I like the staff he is putting together too. Ryan Daly is all in and he is a young coach that can still play ball. Brought his brother back in and The Mayor. Cole is a great recruiter. Coach Martelli threw out the first pitch last night but so far he is hitting home runs.

I LOVE that Coach Cole's main point of interest/influence is the NY/Philly swath.....TONS of great ballers from there. Exactly the kind of guys who tend to do well at VCU
Jamir Watkins, Bones, Samir Daughtry, Melvin Johnson, Terry Larrier...just to name a few....I'm honestly still a little bummed Jayden Reid ended up at NW.

We'll keep the light on for ya!

Jennings during the first 17 games: 2.4 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.8 spg, 31.1% shooting (18.8% 3-point shooting)

Jennings during the last 18 games: 3.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 41.1% shooting (66.7% 3-point shooting)

That's the mark of a player who has found his focus. In conference play his stats per 40 minutes were 10 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.9 apg, and 1.1 spg with adjusted shooting percentages of 42.9% overall and 58.3% from 3-point range.
I think the game started slowing down for him.

TRENTON MAKES THE WORLD TAKES

FYI, George Templeton, host of Rams Rewind, is scheduled to interview Coach Martelli for the podcast Friday morning. Assuming that schedule plays out, I’ll be publishing the episode on Friday afternoon at the latest. There is a LOT to talk about, obviously.

Stumbled upon this when I was reading an article about UVA increasing ticket prices. Looks like the info on Coach Martelli's contract is out and it is very similar to Coach Odom's.
