Coaching Rumors and Changes that Affect VCU

After watching Pitino the last 3 years, I'm not sure I want him at VCU. Solid coach, but not exceptional. No connection here in the region. He'll leave quickly. One of the whiniest in the MW, so obnoxious to watch.
Count me as one who thinks there are a dozen guys we could hire who would be fantastic.

Is it true Pitino and Odom have the same agent?

I wonder if Shulga leaving VCU to NOVA then back again is a factor? It was clear even before the 300k, VCU was able to match whatever NOVA was doing? Plus the public commitment to basketball by VCU admin.

From some things said in the past (perhaps just rumor), Villanova promised something/money/NIL to Max that they ultimately couldn't or didn't want to end up delivering. In fact, another player popped up in the portal that they really wanted, Max returned to VCU and Villanova ended up getting the other portal player.

Honestly, with the portal environment like it is now and the need to start rebuilding as soon as possible and coaches making the jump within 24 hours of their last game, it all feels like coaches and players, both, already have one foot out the door the moment they step on campus. Unless you are in a top 10 program it feels like everyone keeps their bags packed at wherever they decide to play and are ready to jump at a moments notice. Not even a stepping stone anymore.

Interesting question.... My guess would be no they don't.

If 2 family members are about to Square off against one another.... whether its as coaches, or players, or very rarely a coach on one team facing his son on a different team...... You know that leading up to that game and/or after that game is over.

Half of what the media is going to wanna talk about is 2 family members going face to face.

Remember the super bowl where Jim (then with the 49ers) & John (of the Ravens) Harbaugh were facing off? Literally 95% of the storylines leading up to that super bowl was Jim vs John, Brother vs Brother... etc. And had it not been for the power going out in that game.... and all the jokes & memes that followed from that incident.... every story after the super bowl woulda been about Jim vs John regardless of who won, rather than the game itself.

I'm curious as to how many times Danny & Bobby Hurley have faced off against 1 another.... 2 very well know brothers in college coaching.

I know they've faced off a couple times.... but I don't think they go out of their way to do it.
I imagine they prefer not to, but to the extent of making career altering decisions behind it? I don't know.
