Coaching Rumors and Changes that Affect VCU

Where did you hear this? That's not an aggressive question, btw. I'm just interested.
My Dad is very well connected with a couple folks who regularly meet with the NC State AD. His best friend actually meets directly with their AD Boo Corrigan often. He won’t leak stuff and Boo doesn’t go too in depth with the guy but he gets enough. For example I joined my Dad in DC for their bowl game this past season and through his buddy we got VIP hotel stay/field tickets with the team. When we had lunch at the hotel, my Dad’s buddy had just finished his meal with their AD Boo and always fills my Dad in on stuff as they’re super close. My Dad is a State alum, die hard Wolfpack backer, and former coach (not for NC State). My Dad isn’t a direct source but he has very close contacts with NC State who directly speak with their Athletic Department and are included in meetings with staff.

So Odom is the #1 choice?

Does anyone have any idea what the entry cost is to the Maui event? And total cost of the trip? I've always looked at these "once in a lifetime" lavish excursions as payment, of sorts, to the players .... but now that the players get paid in a more traditional manner, is it necessary?
there was an article in ESPN that said it costs teams over $400k to go to Maui tourney (similar cost for Atlantis tourney too)

why schools will likely think twice in the future when opportunities like go to Vegas and get $1 million for NIL is the competition of playing in made for tv game at MSG

never been Necessary! But .......

He is the #1 target for sure but not a done deal at all. UVA is fighting hard. I know that Boo loves Odom but honestly haven’t gotten any feedback on any meetings or anything although I’m sure they have met or talked.

Awesome. Thanks for the look behind the curtains. I really appreciate it.

And Grok says:
Look, it’s tough to say with certainty what Ryan Odom will do after this season at VCU. Coaches’ decisions often hinge on a mix of factors—job offers, personal goals, program success, and even family considerations—that aren’t fully public. Odom’s had a solid run at VCU, with a 25-5 record this year and an Atlantic 10 regular-season title, which naturally makes him a hot name for bigger programs. There’s been chatter linking him to openings like NC State and Virginia, especially given his ties to the region and his track record (that UMBC upset over Virginia in 2018 still resonates). On the other hand, VCU’s a strong mid-major gig with a history of success, and he’s only in his second year—might want to build more before jumping.

If I had to guess, I’d lean toward him staying unless a power conference job he can’t refuse comes knocking. Coaches don’t always chase every shiny offer, but the right fit could pull him. What do you think he’s weighing most here?
