I think he's wanted into the ACC since he started coaching. What do you think he’s weighing most here?

Maybe, but the ACC he wanted into doesn't exist any moreI think he's wanted into the ACC since he started coaching.
Agree. An 18 team 3 bid league. With a high probability of Duke and UNC getting two of three bids in any given season.Maybe, but the ACC he wanted into doesn't exist any more
I would not be surprised with this. State is a hard job. Not VA Tech hard, but certainly not Duke, UNC or even UVA either.Word on the street is Wade is no longer an option for NC State. The scoop is he wants a bigger job (I assume Texas).
To me it would be more of a failure of tenure. If a coach can get hired away after 2 good but not great seasons and no NCAA tournament then we are kinda screwed. I am sure that our non conference schedule could have been at least a tick better. The A10 is now in a position where a coach can win games and get noticed but it is also a 1 or 2 bid league. Of course Odom is our first head coach in quite some time that has already been to the NCAA tournament prior to coming here so his resume was pretty solid coming in.If that happens, it would be a failure of scheduling and not so much a failure of coaching, which ultimately may push him out the door because he may decide he just can't get a good schedule here. Odom has had this team playing at a level we haven't seen for a while. Unfortunately, Seton Hall was unexpectedly crappy and we lost to them. Unfortunately, Miami and Boston College (to a lesser extent) were unexpectedly crappy and our wins over them don't mean anything. Colorado State is just shy of being a really nice win, but is just a good Q2 instead. And, the A10 as a whole was rather mediocre this year.
Yeah, but UVA will probably be part of the Big 10 in 2030. Given his ties to the region, given the number of seniors on the team, and given how hard it is now to make the tournament as a mid-major, I have no hope that he stays. I just hope he's able to put all that out of his mind and focus on the job at hand. I'll always be convinced that Wade was thinking about LSU more than coaching in the tournament his last year here. Compare his energy and body language in that game vs. the year before against Oklahoma and I think you'll see what I mean.Maybe, but the ACC he wanted into doesn't exist any more
I'm 100% convinced of that as well. The job to get to the next level was already done.I'll always be convinced that Wade was thinking about LSU more than coaching in the tournament his last year here. Bidding war
A friend of mine who is a large Tech donor tells me that Kentucky is lining up a deal for Tobi. We’ll see.Does Tobi go with him to Radford? Obviously no one wants to transfer down from a P5... and Tobi was one of the few bright spots for Tech this year, and he showed he could hang for the most part in the ACC.
But Byers is also a big reason he went there... so I'm curious to see what happens there if JD goes to Radford.
hahahaha, ok. I guess we will see, but I wouldn't bet a nickel on him staying. If I had to guess, I’d lean toward him staying unless a power conference job he can’t refuse comes knocking. Coaches don’t always chase every shiny offer, but the right fit could pull him. What do you think he’s weighing most here?
Just commented to my family how odd this looks on the screen.Speaking of the ACC we once knew, I am watching that age-old ACC tournament rivalry between Cal and Stanford. Enough to make an old man's head spin
