The 2011 Commonwealth Collegiate Challenge is pleased to announce this year’s event will take place on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University at the Verizon Wireless Arena at the VCU Siegel Center on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
The game will feature VCU Rams Seniors Joey Rodriguez, Brandon Rozzell, Jamie Skeen, and Ed Nixon teaming up with Richmond Spider Seniors Kevin Anderson, Kevin Smith, Justin Harper, and Dan Geriot. Kevin Smith is unable to play due to an injury suffered during the run to the Sweet 16, but will be on the bench support his teammates.
ACC Player of the Year Nolan Smith of Duke withdrew from the game on Sunday afternoon due to an unforeseen academic conflict. Georgetown’s Austin Freeman has replaced Nolan Smith on the non Richmond based roster. The following players have committed to play in this year’s event: Terrell Bell (Virginia Tech), Jeff Allen (Virginia Tech), Isaiah Tate (George Mason), Austin Freeman (Georgetown), Marcus Kitts (William & Mary), Keyon Carter (Old Dominion), and Danny Jones (Randolph-Macon).

Season ticket holders - this is not a VCU Athletics sponsored event. The game on Thursday is a general admission event, first come first seating.

Keeping with tradition, all players will be available after the game and at halftime for pictures and autographs for the fans of Richmond.
The Commonwealth Collegiate Challenge will be conducting a shooting clinic for boys and girls players participating in the game from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on April 21 just prior to the game. Several of the players participating in the game will take part in the shooting clinic providing a little fun and excitement for each of the kids attending. Cost of the clinic is $30 and includes the ticket to the game. The clinic will be a great opportunity for children of all ages to get up close and personal with the players participating.
Following the game, players will be available for pictures and autographs for 30 minutes.
