Thunder general manager Sam Presti announced the deal on Tuesday. Mustafa Shakur is being called up from the Thunder's NBA Development League affiliate in Tulsa, where he was averaging 20.7 points and 7.2 assists per game.

Shakur went undrafted out of Arizona in 2007 and played overseas in Poland, Spain and Greece in recent years.

Eric's numbers have been down since he arrived in OKC, both in scoring and in assists. Here's hoping he gets more opportunities like he had back in December against Clev to show what he can do when given the reigns.

no, not competition for maynor. james harden is out two to four weeks with injury so they needed another guard.

I think it's more of the matter that OKC has literally no depth at PG or SG. Other than the first and second string there is no one. Common practice for teams expecting to make a run deep into the playoffs is to bring up depth at any positions they feel could help if an injury occurs to their starter or primary guys coming off the bench. I dont think Eric has anything to worry about. Its not like he is getting a ton of minutes behind westbrook either. OKC will give Shakur some minutes to see what they can expect from him, but long term I think Eric's job is secure. I am sure he will have a lengthy career, maybe not in OKC but somewhere. I like to compare Eric to Chauncey Billups when he first came into the league.

*EDIT: Just saw mvalvior's post. If anything, Eric could get more minutes as OKC puts Westbrook into more of a shooting guard role when Sefolosha gets rest.
