For what it's worth, the CAA RPI is up to #9 just behind the ACC at #7.

That's interesting. I can buy the CAA at # 9 this year, but it's hard to imagine that 6 other conferences are "better" than the ACC. I wonder if it has to do somewhat with the fact that the BCS conferences typically play a lot of cupcakes early - - it can't do much for your RPI if that's the case. On the other hand, W&M, ODU, VCU and GMU all had tougher games in OOC play.

The ACC got watered down when it started adding riff raff like Tech and Miami. Plus, a couple of their other programs have hit the skids recently (UVa, Maryland, Georgia Tech). Wake isn't what it used to be either.

the "riff raff" was added for football and they didnt care about the basketball costs because regardless UNC, Duke and the like would always make the ACC basketball viable. GT is a top 25 team this year, UVA is 10-4 and bennett will bring them back to respectable, maryland is still living off the title run. Miami is 15-2, Tech is 13-2 both had rpi's in the top 75 as of Monday (realtimerpi is down right now), granted weak schedules. The ACC rpi rank will rise as the season goes deeper as all these lower rpi teams add games vs unc and duke to their resume.

Sure the ACC will rise because their conference opponents are much higher than ooc teams. They ain'tdo too bad with all that riff raff-they still send 6 or 7 every year to the dance. All of them have up and down years-the year we beat Duke was one of there worse years and UNC is down this year because of gaurd play.

I'd add NU in there as well. Not that this hasn't gone unnoticed but NU's SOS rank is highest in the conference(38).

First, RealtimeRPI data is suspect. Even the NCAA had to correct about 15 games this week (home-away-neutral) , and if the site is not in direct communication with the NCAA, those games are most likely wrong. Second, the OFFICIAL RPI lists the CAA as 9th OOC and 10th overall. So it depends on how you want to represent the data.

However you look at it, the CAA is far ahead of the 12-13-14-15 that it has been in the past years. It is more about who was played OOC than anything else.
