Congrats to Joey Rodriguez who will be named 2nd-team All-CAA tonight at the CAA Banquet! Great job Joey and well-deserved!

For sure, they slotted him right where he belonged as well. What a great season for Mr. Rodriguez.
NEXT YEAR FIRST TEAM!

Well NU has 2 of the top 5. So that accounts for NU being ahead of us. I can't account for anyone else though.

The short end of it is that we can't win a game on the road for some reason. 7 of our 8 losses were on the road.

I couldn't be more proud of Joey than if he was my own son. Overcoming his own doubts and doubters (many of whom reside on these boards) he not just perservered he has triumphed. Is this not the measure of great character?

I 100% agree with making 2nd team. However I'm shocked someone voted him POY. You can't even make an honest case for that!

sure ya can, if you already had made up your mind to vote for a VCU player (which I wouldn't doubt), Joey was probably the best all around player for us this year!

I agree with you. He was VCU MVP to a lot of VCU fans, of course none of VCU's coaches or media people could have voted for him, so someone else appreciated his impact as the leader of our team I suppose.

I thought I heard before that the coaches can't vote for their own players but the media can vote for any one. I could be wrong about that though.

Agreed. Joey was very deserving. He played his butt off. He started off rough but finally got found his rhythm and touch towards the end of the season.

As to the vote for POY. Its is not a stretch. He held together a fragile yet talented VCU team and many nights was the prime reason we won the game. Also, no one in the league really stood out. ODU didnt have a standout, NU didnt, GMU nope, Drexel, and Jenkins plays by himself on a losing team.

Not saying Joey was the league MVP but he was just as good or better on most nights than many of the guys on the first team. More over, I'd rather have a Joey type than a Jenkins any day. Shooters are a dime a dozen true points are tough to find. I think we have been spoiled here at VCU as we saw Eric for three years and now Joey this year. Prior to that we have almost always had a solid if not very good player at the point.

Joey played well.

Now let's just hope that the all tourney team is full of Rams on Monday night. Go Rams!
