For those who were not at the game or didn't see it mentioned in one of the other threads Joey Rodriguez broke the all time VCU single game assist record with 17 against UNC-G on Friday night. The previous record was 16 held by Kenny Harris against Oklahoma set on January 20th 1994. FYI the NCAA D-1 single game assist record is 22.

Joey is really starting to make his mark on the VCU record books. Here are some of the highlights I noticed.

3rd place all time single season assists with 208 in 2009-10. Eric had 224 and 210 which puts him at #1 and #2.

4th place all time single season steals with 61 in 2008-09.

4th place all time single season mins played with 1,184 in 2009-10.

8th place (tie) all time 3 pt. field goals made with 146 and counting.

3rd place all time in free throw percentage with .795 (this one could go up or down though).

8th place all time in assists with 389 and counting.

10th place all time in assist per game average with 3.65 prior to tonight.

4th place time in steals with 180 and counting.

1st place (tie) for most steals in a game with 7 (twice).

Also he is closing in on the 1,000 point club with 970 after tonight. He would be just the 30th player in VCU history to join the club.

Eric Maynor and Larry Sanders going back to back in the first round was amazing, but once again we are able to witness once of VCU's all time greats up close and in person at the Stu. Definitely the best ticket in town.

The CAA website only lists in-conference games for single game records. Some tick had 16 back in the 80's.

This is incorrect.

Joey's 17 assists tonight are also a CAA record.

VCU was not a CAA member when Kenny Harris had 16 assists during the 1993-94 season.

Well, the "records" page only lists records from in-conference games (unless every single game record in CAA history came against conference opponents).

Joey joins the 1,000 point club tonight against Wake. Rumor has it that he is saving a spot for Bradford Burgess.
