Unless I am mistaken, not one single foul was called after the 8:54 mark until the fouls with 2.6 seconds left. How can the refs call nothing for that long of a period. 13 MINUTES! Now I'm not saying it would have affected the game negatively or positively but it is absurd that not one single foul was called in that time period.

Refs didn't help us but they didn't cost us the game. Though I do have a interesting fact from another VCU fan here on RN that was there today. Apparently one ref today called like 5+ fouls on VCU on his own while he never called single foul on ODU. Strange.

Given our foul situation with our bigs that probably helped more than it hurt.

these calls did make the difference, I think I'll give Smart a pass thanks to this stat......

Keep it on topic please. This thread has nothing to do with Coach. There is a thread for that already. This is about something entirely different.

Thanks!

three second lane violations were not called

moving screens not called

over the back not called

caa refs = joke

Bad form to lose a game and have a thread about the bad refs. Makes us look like whiners frankly. We've won as many as we've lost this year if/when the fouls were a factor. It all works out. ODU was way more physical and took the ball inside on every play. That's why we fouled more. Not to mention our slap-happy style of press yields more fouls. We didn't adjust well enough to stave them off.

The foul that hurt us the most was when Gerald Lee fell ON HIS OWN and larry picked up his forth foul on it. It was insane, it changed the whole game.

I saw the replay of that 4th foul several times and I swear Larry didn't touch him-the ref was at a bad angle and blew his whistle automatic when he fell-guess other officials won't step in and overrule a call like that. Yes it was a game changing call-Larry was already gun shy and played zero defense after that.

yeah that was complete BS yesterday...Jamie was getting hacked to pieces in the last ten minutes when shooting and there wasnt a single call made.

As a team, you can only control certain things, and the referees aren't one of those. End of story.

Fouls did not win or lose the game. It was a hard played game, and could have gone either way. A lot of ODU fans came to me and said they thought the Championship game was the semi-final game. It happens like that a lot. Do you remember last year?

I remember that one clearly. The replay showed that Larry was 6 inches from the guy. He was completely untouched. Oh well.

Not so sure about that. If they had called more fouls on us we might have been able to send them to the line at the end instead of them running out the clock in between fouls. Obviously I am joking, but it seems like the one time we don't have 10 fouls called against us in a half it is to our detriment.
