Ok, so we are off to a 2-3 start in the CAA. But did you know that we are right in line with the last four seasons. Check it out:

year after 14 games final RPIfinal record
2005-06 10-4 81 19-10
2006-07 11-3 42 27-6
2007-08 10-4 57 24-8
2008-09 9-5 50 24-9
2009-10 10-4 52 ???

With that being said how do we finish??

01-12 at Hofstra 8-8 (2-3) 142
01-16 at Georgia St. 7-9 (2-3) 261
01-20 William & Mary 11-3 (4-1) 20
01-23 at Northeastern 9-7 (4-1) 58
01-27 Towson 3-11 (0-5) 313
01-30 Georgia St. 7-9 (2-3) 261
02-03 at N.C. Wilmington 6-9 (2-3) 139
02-06 Old Dominion 12-5 (4-1) 39
02-09 at George Mason 9-7 (4-1) 113
02-13 at James Madison 8-7 (2-3) 260
02-16 Drexel 8-9 (3-2) 114
02-20 BracketBuster
02-24 James Madison 8-7 (2-3) 260
02-27 at Old Dominion 12-5 (4-1) 39

My guess is we lose 2 games here on out @NU and @ODU. Our final record will be 22-6 and our RPI will be 40 heading into the tourney. With 20 wins we are guaranteed at least a NIT birth and will be talked about for an at large.

say its a race between William & Mary, Old Dominion, George Mason, NU and Drexel???

we all know AK doesn't know squat about mid-major bball

What program did Andy play for, same one as Joe Lunardi?

Katz is a standard issue talking head who only regurgitates the opinions of other talking heads on the 4 letter.....wouldn't know about quality non BCS programs if they fell out of the sky, landed on his face with a wet 'plop', and wiggled

I felt compelled to leave a comment

That is really going out on a limb to predict that the winner of the 12 team conference will be one of those 5 teams. Hopefully he is wrong any way.

for real...his in-depth research consisted of looking at the current standing and choosing the top 5 teams, regardless of who they have played or will play. Class A idiot in my book.

ok, I will go out on a limb and predict that either, VCU, W&M, NU, DelU, UDrex, ODU, HofU, GSU, GMU, JMU or UNCW will win the CAA. Notice I boldly excluded Townson from the list. Think I'm ready to be an ESPN analyst.

Actually, Katz knows more about college hoops than any of you, that's for sure.

He's right, by the way (except for Drexel). One of the current four 4-1 teams will almost assuredly win the regular season title.

Let's get a road sweep this week before we start entertaining any thoughts of getting back in this race. A split this week leaves us at 3-4 w/ W&M (home) and NU (road) next on the docket. We haven't even played GMU or ODU yet. That Drexel loss was a killer, RPI-wise and otherwise.

Our road performance thus far has been abysmal..............especially defensively.

Tulane - 77 pts. Drexel - 75 pts. W&M - 75 pts. WMU - 83 pts. And that's WITH a 6'11" shotblocker in the middle. That's not exactly murderer's row either (competition-wise).

You let teams get 70+, you'll almost always lose in college hoops.

Until we learn to clamp down on folks at the arc and get some stops on the road, we'll struggle. We're staring at 11-7 (maybe 12-6) unless something changes quickly (and drastically).

This team doesn't have the Maynor swagger and his crunch-time abilities. He saved and won many a game for us the past three years.

How many 10-17 pt leads have melted (or nearly melted) away already this year? I've counted seven (in just 14 games).

Nine of the first 14 were at home. Only seven of the next 14 are at home. Seven road games remain(including Hof, NU, GMU, JMU, ODU, UNCW). We haven't won a road conf game yet.

Let's see if this team can actually execute a gameplan for 40 minutes without a partisan crowd cheering for it or the benefit of some home-cookin' whistleblowers. Then we can talk!

If Kats had VCU, towson and Georgia state on his rankings folks would be talking about how he always brings it

Quality post. Lets hope our team can bond starting tomorrow night at Hofstra on national tv. A win there puts us at 3-3 in CAA and gets up some road confidence.

Based on the results so far in conference, how can we blame any prognosticator for leaving us out of the running at this point? We may be able to turn it around, but it's going to be an uphill battle. We've just got to play better.

Odds are Katz is right. But stuff happens and things change. We need to hold serve at home from here on out and win more on the road than we lose. If we do that I think we'll get a bye.

Look at the NFL. In December people were mocking the Cowboys and talking about firing Phillips, now everyone thinks they are a favorite and Phillips will get an extension. Ridiculous media.

It is not that, it is that he picked out the top 5 teams and said one of these teams is going to win it. If you are just going to say that someone in the top half of the standings is going to win that doesn't take much work.
