Dantiel Daniels had four other official visits scheduled, but after spending the weekend in Carbondale, the 6-foot-5 forward decided he had seen enough.

Daniels, an incoming senior at Holt High School near St. Louis, verbally committed to the Southern Illinois University men's basketball team earlier today.

He had offers from Virginia Commonwealth, Oral Roberts, Colorado State and Western Kentucky, and had official visits scheduled with all four, but will cancel them now.

Don't think his name had come up previously. Only posting because apparently we offered and had a visit lined up, so we must have had serious interest in him.

Good find, but obviously the interest in his services ended with the Treveon Graham commitment.

We will go big with the last scholarship.

Every month or so there appears to be a name /offer associated with a good looking recruiting...all parts of the country. I love the way this coaching staff stays after it, on-going. It shouldn't suprise us the results are inspiring. It's also good because it let's other recruits know that when VCU offers you better be ready--we value talent/character...and action!

major kudos for the coaching staff....absolutely relentless....

These guys are actually setting a precedent with regards to recruiting. It doesn't appear to me that we have ever done this on the national level even when we were at a higher level competitively.

This is the standard that we should hold both this and all future coaching staffs.

While not yet evident on the court. (and now I am starting to believe that it will) Coach Smart has mad a major mark on VCU basketball in a little over a year.

Hopefully, this new standard setting will carryover to the court and we as fans will never have to endure another Sonny Smith era.

Lots of programs have had former ACC/SEC names. SS was ours. Remember LD was JMU's and GSU's. Kennedy is still at TU, though not quite the name. I'm sure there are others...
