Immediately after this camp Reed received his first scholarship offer from Virginia Commonwealth University. Reed now additionally holds scholarship offers from Seton Hall, St. Joe’s, West Virginia, Rutgers, LaSalle, and Temple. Not everyone knows who Davon Reed is yet but he’s quickly becoming a name on every college coach’s radar.

Looks like ESPN has him as a top 100 guy. I doubt we make his final list. He's already got offers from 3 Big East Schools (Seton Hall, West Virginia, and Rutgers) as a sophomore.

A 2013 guy that we are very strong with is Tyrek Coger who has a tremendous relationship with our coaching staff. He's a 6'8, 235 big who is very highly regarded. We actually lead for him despite a number of major colleges having interest.

“I have seven offers from the following schools; VCU, St. Joe’s, La Salle, Temple, Rutgers, Seton Hall and West Virginia,” said Reed. “I am [also] hearing from Cincinnati, Florida, Villanova, Stanford, Providence, and many more.”

Reed has a few schools he really likes, a couple on his current list and a couple he will be hoping to hear from over the next two years as he tries to capitalize on the exposure playing with Team Final will bring.

“I really like Ohio State, UNC, Florida, VCU and Syracuse,” he said.

Reed is not thinking about a commitment any time soon, only really mentioning he would like to stay on the East Coast, but he does have an idea of what an ideal school might have to offer.

“Well, I want to major in sports medicine or marketing so I need a school that has a good department for either of those majors because education is most important,” said Reed when asked what factors would play the biggest role in his college decision. “I would definitely like to stay on the East Coast. I also need a team that fits my style of play with a good coach!”

Is it me, or is that good news? Of the 5 schools he likes, only VCU has offered and he only mentioned Florida of the other four as schools he's hearing from. He did say many more, but you'd think he'd have mentioned them if he likes them. Also said earlier that VCU was the very first school to offer him. I remember Daunte Culpepper signed with UCF over several BCS schools because of the early interest UCF showed in him. It's really early so I won't get my hopes up, but it sounds like he'd be a HUGE get for us if we could lock him up.

It is good he mentioned VCU first over all schools. Could also be some risidual impact from the final four exposure. VCU is now a known team with real credibility.... :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:

Heading into last summer, Davon Reed — an athletic, 6’4″ wing playing for Team Final — was a virtual unknown.

That was before he went the The Hoop Group’s Fab Frosh, Super Soph Elite Camp.

Reed dominated, winning MVP of the camp and in turn putting himself on the national radar. Reed, who currently holds offers from West Virginia, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Joseph’s, Temple, and La Salle, had a quiet game in Team Final’s 65-36 win over Hard2Guard in their Southern JamFest opener.

Among Reed’s dream schools are Florida, Syracuse, Ohio State, and VCU. I guess Shaka Smart is doing something right.

We are top notch in both majors, not to mention VCU Advertising [The Brand Center], and the medical school exposure with sports medicine. If this young man knows what he wants in additon to bb, we should be a very attractive choice.

Brandcenter is for graduate studies. :?

We still have a good business school, though.
