did grant ever officially thank vcu after he left

as much as I don't like Coach K he said on the Jim Rome show today that he never had any desire to go to another school because of how Duke backed him when he was 38-47 after 3 years. They had just lost to UVA by 43 in the ACC tourney, but the AD and the pres stuck by him.

For that he said he was never interested in another college job ever and would not leave Duke, though the NBA has tempted him a few times. Maybe our former coach Anthony Greed could learn something from people like him.

Seriously, his tenure and exit don't warrant ANY kind of recognition on VCU's part. He was great while he was here, he left us in a lurch, He tried to poach our players....moving on
 
VCU recognizing Grant makes my stomach turn - I would be busy that night with a roll of Cottonelle.
Grant was great for VCU but VCU was even greater for Grant. We honor him by making him one of the highest paid coaches at the so-called mid major level plus incentives etc.. He should be extremely thankful to VCU, but I did not hear much a thank you from him. Capel went out of his way to thank VCU for the opportunity we gave him as a young head coach.

I just hope that Larry stays for his senior year. I picture VCU going down to Alabama and Eblen driving down the lane and Larry swatting the ball towards the Alabama bench and if happens to hit a certain coach in the noggin or any other body part - what a awesome sight that would be!

I am extremely disappointed with Coach Grant. He showed us that intergrity and loyalty mean absolutely nothing and watch out Alabama if he promises to make you the UNC of the SEC!

Maybe I am too old fashioned, but if you make promises to a loyal fan base and also to recruits, I expect you to honor such promises (or at least attempt to honor them). Do not tell a recruit you are definitely going to be there for at least 1 more year and then bolt at the first offer that comes your way!

Oh well, I am done vetting about Grant. I am excited to have Coach Smart and his staff at VCU.

I have plans on watching my grass grow then watching my paint dry....so I won't be able to make it.
 
I never saw anything locally thanking the VCU family for the 3 years support. That and chasing recruits from other schools leaves me to believe that all of the support I have given him these three years is wasted. I always thought he had class-this shows he has no class and is right there with the "sleasy" BB coaches in the land. The name "TarK the Shark" comes to mind. Now they could be related. Glad now he is gone. We have too much class for him. We can all say "thank you"-except AG and his former staff.

Maybe you guys should go, and you know, be like boo birds! That would be funny. But, actually its time to move on. I'm over Grant leaving but I'm still not over losing to UCLA. :evil:
