Dominique McKoy (6-7, 200, Atlanta, GA South Atlanta) has offers from Auburn, FSU, Georgia, Alabama, UAB and VCU. The way he’s getting to the rim and scoring in the paint, his offer list is about to expand considerably. He’s picked up considerable interest from SEC and ACC schools in the last couple of weeks.

Do remember his name being mentioned previously.

We aren't recruiting him at this point. We're pretty much looking at guards now.

so we have 4 seniors next year and the only "big" we are going to bring in is Wilson? I know we need to add probably 2 guards, but do we need 3?

Haley, Veal
Reddic, Wilson
Brad, Reco
Daniels, Rob
Theus, Grayson

I would think a pg, a sg and a pf/c would be an ideal last 3

Seeing as we are replacing Joey, Ed, and Brandon, I would say yes.

yes and we have daniels, rob, theus, and grayson waiting in the wings. so 6 guards should be enough, shouldnt it?

I agree with this, I wouldn't mind another big man in next years class since Skeen will be gone and Veal will be a senior give a freshman some seasoning.

that was my thinking in terms of giving a big a year to develop without having to play. i think right now though we are in a position especially given today's recruiting news where Shaka and company can just recruit the best guys they can get and they will make it work, so either way works for me I just wouldnt shut off the idea of recruiting bigs.

The staff is recruiting guards, you won't see another big for 2011. Remember we are a pressing team losing our top 3 guards next year.

do they have a preference in the breakdown of the guards b/w pg, sg? henry obviously is a combo.

We should see a PG and a SG with the last 2 spots.

Like the name ... sounds like a smooth blend of Domonic Jones (1,616 points) and Tyron McCoy (1,456).

Dom (a McCarthy recruit) is remembered fondly ... Tyron, by contrast, is perhaps the all-time most under-rated Ram - 12.6 career scoring norm, 4.1 rebounding average for 116 games ... .461 from field ... .352 from distance ... 754 from stripe.

McCoy was recruited out of Bethune, S.C., by former Ram assistant coach Eddie Webb (also pivotal in landing Kendrick Warren, Eric Atkins, Sherron Mills, Chris Cheeks, John Thompson, Elander Lewis and Kenny Harris). E. Webb, son of famed RMC/ODU coach Paul Webb, now directs the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in Portsmouth.

I would absolutely love to hear us land a combo guard who is noted for his lock-down defense and foot speed for full-court on-the-ball pressure. Give me some D!

[I love razzle dazzle passing and filler-up shooting, but a guard who all observers call a "defensive hawk" is what I'd love to hear. Whatever Shaka and staff are chasing they have earned our patience based on their in-coming talent.

Definately agree with 'Horn there....Tyron was a heckuva ballplayer and a definate on-court leader. One of my favorite Rams ever.

Also worh noting are his European Accomplishmnets http://en.basketball.doudiz.com/player/ ... Mccoy.html

not too shabby

I agree. He was a bigtime winner with VCU.
