It hit me last night and now I feel better.

That Coach Smart is crafty coach, I think he has been exposed to The Amazing Blainiac too Long. He is letting Larry do what he wants, so he looks bad and the NBA won't want to draft him this year.

Then next year with the greatest and most talented team of players in VCU history - he chains Larry's a$$ to the post and wins the big one. Imagine all of our perimeter players back plus Larry, Jamie, Terrence, Reco on the inside. If we have that next year we are unstoppable.

Good thinking coach!

Haha nice Ramathon, although I do agree. I would think Shaka knows what he's doing for the most part.

He's seeing what this team can do (or can't do) now, instead of in March - works for me.

I think if Shaka doesn't know what this team can and cannot do by the 12th game of the season we've got a problem :| Hopefully he'll get this team back on the right track tonight because this team has SO much potential. They just need everyone to get on the same page. If they leave the selfish play at the door and play team basketball we can't be stopped.

seriously? keep in mind that his second and third best front court players have only played 4 games.

you play to win the game. if shaka is lettin larry do anything he wants to look bad for the nba, that contradicts the whole aspect of coaching. shaka can tell larry to post up all he wants but the only person who can control what larry does on the court, is larry. and by shaka takin larry out when he shot the 3 on a fastbreak against northeastern shows that shaka does not want larry to do it.

Thread of the day by far...

Look, I think Shaka needs to grab some of these guys by the balls and get them in shape. No way Larry is pulling this poop if Grant is here. He'd have splinters in his butt.

Although I know you were joking about the whole NBA thing, I suspect Shaka MIGHT be giving Larry a little rope to hang himself. Remember the old line from Hoosiers..."I'm going to break 'em down and then build 'em back up". Larry has to have a superstar ego now with all the press he's gotten. PERHAPS coach is letting the team deal with Larry and is willing to risk losses to make the point about team play (to Larry and others). I doubt it has anything to do with next year, but later this year (March).

Not only that but Brad and TJ were playing out of position because of that. I think that has a lot to do with their struggles recently. Also the guards weren't looking to get the ball inside as much early in the season. Throwing T and Skeen into the lineup at the same time changes a lot. Larry had to play out of position some as well in order to set picks and stay out of foul trouble. Now that we have other guys to do that he can get back under the basket. I think we are going to start to see a lot of Joey to Skeen to Larry for easy buckets.

I hope so. I'd like to see the dribble penetrator look for a pass to Skeen/Larry as they draw the defender before they get to the hoop. I saw Skeen making interior passes to Saintil in the last game but not vice versa, hope Saintil is unselfish enough to return the favors. I think Skeen is a better finisher. And have these teams scouted Skeen's prior games at Wake cause it seems to me that kid is getting hammered harder and far more often than anybody.

I agree that Skeen is the better finisher, but I think he is also the better passer. I don't think Saintil is being selfish I just think that there is a higher % of Saintil making the shot with Skeen there to clean up the glass then getting the ball to Skeen who then has to make the shot. Our opponents have definitely been after Skeen after he gets his first couple of buckets which frees up someone else. That is why I was thinking that he will end up getting the ball to Larry quite a bit. Especially if he becomes a starter and they are spending more time on the floor together. He is good about getting Larry into position as well.
