Players Exit stage left, Jamarii Thomas

Well, what I been thinking about NIL is bearing fruit. And it’s not a pretty fruit.

He’s not going to improve his pro chances going to SC. And imho, we won’t miss him.

College sports is headed in the wrong direction.

Some of you need to get a grip. SC doesn't care what you think and neither does Jamari. If this were to happen in the normal job market, 9 out of 10 people would likely do the exact same thing and renege on an agreement to take the other job.
Normal jobs aren't paid for by fans. If the fans feel like they've been done wrong there's going to be some pushback.

As I like to say, I will never tell people how to feel.

Three scenarios that have happened in the past 7ish days

  • Player commits to VCU, VCU accepts player then decides to sign with SC
  • Player has committed and signed with SC, Kentucky has a coaching change, SC player ask for and is granted release and commits to Kentucky
  • Player Commits to Kansas, Kansas keeps recruiting and after a couple more commits, Kansas publicly states players commitment is now in limbo. player "decommits" the next day.

Thomas is not unique. YOu can hate what you are seeing....and I do mean what you are seeing because its has happened for years The only difference is we didn't live in an instant information world

Appreciate the concern and opinion. I spoke for myself, but I’d be shocked if there aren’t others in Ram Nation who would welcome the opportunity to heckle the heck out of Thomas, Paris, etc.

No, I don’t understand what you mean about the difference between an e-mail to a small group of people vs. a social media post that screams of wanting everyone else to see (which is kind of what my bringing this to this board has done).
Heckling a player is one thing (within reason). A fan sending an email to the coaching staff to vent about a situation he actually knows little about is pretty lame and reflects poorly on our fan base. Especially since we're not talking about a franchise changing player. Think about it, you're bent out of shape about losing a MEAC player. Repeat...a MEAC player. A fan of an A-10 school thinks losing a MEAC player is such a big deal he was motivated to send an email to the other school's entire coaching staff out of anger. VCU really has taken a MAJOR step backwards when we care that much about a MEAC player. And yet folks think we should be seriously considered for the Big East. This reeks of a small-time fan base, but you think this makes us not appear soft? Exact opposite, this is the epitome of being soft. In my opinion our reaction should be "Oh well, his loss. Next."

I actually wrote something extensive explaining the difference in sending an email vs. posting on social media, but decided why bother. Something so obviously shouldn't even need to be explained.

Reflects poorly on our fanbase? Emails? Good lord.
I guarantee he didn't present himself as an independent college basketball fan. And we all know, it only takes one nut to paint an entire fan base.

But that's just my opinion.

Seems like a lot of time spent on this. It’s pretty easy to hit the delete key. That’s what they most likely did.

Email? Email? We talking about Email? Makes our fanbase passionate. Wow! What overreaction. I like our passion and guarantee our fan base wasn't painted. Damm.

Sorry. I hope the kid breaks his leg. It’s not like hoping that the kid gets hit by a train.

Some of you guys want to cut these kids too much slack. Perhaps if he had apologized and explained the sudden change, then I would have respect for him and be more forgiving.
I hope he gets crushed by the scoreboard because USC doesn’t have enough money for inspections and maintenance after paying the little ******

It’s surprising that you are so bothered by my behavior. Of course I didn’t present myself as an independent basketball fan. Are you afraid that my actions are going to cost you views on YouTube?

And then I ask you a serious question about the use of e-mail vs. social media and you can’t even give me a short answer to help me understand your perspective.

Your holier than thou persona is quite apparent. Maybe you ought to apply for a Moderator position?

Now go ahead and get the last word in here. I promise that I’ll allow you this.
