VCU (1-0 overall, 0-0 in CAA): VCU opened the season with a 2-1 win over Miami (Ohio) in Charlottesville. Senior Lindsay Jones scored the game-winner with 2:20 remaining in the season opener. Freshman goalkeeper Megan Botteri made five saves for VCU against Miami in her first career start. VCU is now 3-0 in openers under Kelly McQuade. The Rams rebounded from a season-opening setback at East Carolina (2-1) and cruised by Wofford 3-0 on Sunday. Senior forward June Hartman scored a pair of second-half goals agains the Terriers. Senior Jasmine Riley, who had VCU’s lone goal at ECU, scoring the game-winning goal and added an assist at Wofford. Riley, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, has seven goals in 15 career games at VCU. Goalkeeper Chenae didn’t have to make a save to earn her first shutout at Wofford. Nearly 75% of the Rams’ roster is made up of underclassmen.
