First things first I know all you Shaka lovers will try and rip this apart, but please don't waste your time. Instead go back and watch every game from this year even the W's and explain to me and rest of us how he was NOT out coached.

His defensive scheme is disgusting to watch. Havoc as a simple definition is disorder or chaos this describes our defensive and offensive game perfectly. We press and give up easy lay ups, we take 24 seconds to set up a 3 pt play. Why not play hard nose man to man and trap and press when necessary? Why not set up an easy two? Why doesn't Skeen touch the ball on every offensive possession? Answers please???

We need a head coach.. NOT a ACC or SEC assistant coach.

Everyone writes on here with this "insider info" check your sources they might be watching the girls team

Oh yeah to all that are living in the past.. Eric Maynor and Larry Sanders no longer play for you VCU so get over it.

"how can you really expect skeen to "touch " the ball on every possession? are you saying that everytime down the floor you call a play for the same player? answer that this otherwise the rest of your ramblings are really just weak tirades that have already been expessed in painful detail on numerous other posts and threads so read the other responses then come back with ligimate questions/comments\

Anybody who make the trip to NYC knows what this team is capable of. In my opinion, I see a team that has a lot of things to work on, which I have faith they are working on which includes things that I would expect a team to not be as good at this point in the season. Mostly the third levels on defense and offense. Defensively they need to figure out what the 3rd rotation is after the initial trap (ie, after the trap is broken, where do the defenders go). Offensively I think we get the goal of the first screen and pass of most plays, but if that is defended, where do we go next?

Guess what? I would hope that our vets would know these things better. However, unless all five guys on the floor know where they are supposed to be, at all times (including a JUCO transfer, and 4 active freshman who have all seen extensive playing time at one point or another), you will see lapses. You will also see lapses, because every player this side of Michael Jordan is human, and makes mistakes.

The most experienced lineup we have is:
1- Joey Rodriguez (playing hurt)
2- Brandon Rozzell (playing hurt)
3- Ed Nixon (undersized to play most traditional "small forwards" like you will often see OOC)
4- Bradford Burgess (undersized to play most traditional "power forwards" like you will often see OOC)
5- Jaime Skeen (undersized to play most traditional "centers" like you will often see OOC)

So there you have it. Our most experienced lineup features 3 players playing out of position, so either you play small, or you play young, either of which can kill you against good teams. Some games we were able to overcome this. Other games, we didn't.

Your other option is to play the younger kids. We've done that, and sometimes they've been great, other times they haven't. That's what happens when you rely on freshman. Other freshman we've relied on over the years (Joey, BA, Nick) have done things that made us scratch our head too.

In the end, they are kids, playing a game, and from what I can tell, working their asses off. Shaka too, has shown me nothing to say that he hasn't been working his ass off. Does he make the occasional decision that confuses me? Yes. Since when does the coach have to run his decisions by me, you, FMRick, or Norwood for that matter.

Work in progress. Watch and see it progress. You might like what you see by the end.
