RICHMOND FLYING SQUIRRELS TO HOST “LARRY SANDERS NIGHT” ON TUESDAY

RICHMOND, Va. – We’ve seen him rebound, we’ve seen him throw down some dunks, we’ve seen him block shots, but on Tuesday night the Richmond area will get to see something new from former Ram Larry Sanders, throwing a baseball.

Sanders will be a special guest of the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Tuesday night at The Diamond when they host the Reading Phillies in a 7:05 p.m. contest. He will be on hand to throw out the first pitch as well as being available for autographs for his beloved fans.

“The city of Richmond and the VCU community are major reasons why I got this great opportunity in the NBA,” Sanders said. “This was just an opportunity that was presented to me and I couldn’t pass up a chance to thank so many of those fans that supported me during my time at VCU.”

Sanders became the second straight Ram to be drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft when the Milwaukee Bucks selected the Fort Pierce, Fla. native with the 15th pick. He excelled in the week long summer league and looks to be a major contributor to the Bucks this season.

For more tickets, call the Richmond Flying Squirrels ticket office at 804-359-3866.

Wow. The first pitch is exciting! If he does well in the NBAssociation and pitches over the plate, maybe he can do it for the Brewers!

Thanks, John. I like what Larry says about the City of Richmond and the VCU community. It's a class statement from a classy man. Hope to see you there.

According to the squirrels website they will start at 6:15 finishing up the last 3 innings of Monday nights game which was suspended due to the lights malfunctioning. Larry will be signing autographs in the main concourse from 6:10 to 6:40.

No word on bobbleheads.

there are so many Gerald Lee jokes brewing...but I be nice. :D

could you guys imagine if someone actually did teach larry how to throw a baseball correctly? holy heck that would be intimidating. his arms would reach darn near halfway to home plate.

forget the big unit. larry could be the big smooth.

teach that kid a slider.

He could be the next Michael Jordan - great basketball career with short and forgetful baseball career all in the minors.

I'll be happy with the "great basketball career"...

Nice day for Larry. I hope to see great things from him, and look forward to someday watching the Rams in the new "Sanders-Maynor Dome" built with their contributions to the Ram Athletic Fund...
