For Funsies: Conference Reallignment/Creation

Looks good on paper but I don't believe that there aren't SEC teams that won't be spending at least twice that on players in some form or fashion.

Everyone needs to keep in mind these numbers are only the amounts schools will be paying directly to NIL. They do not include any third party NIL's. It is far from becoming a level playing field.

yup. Didn't mean to suggest it was. But I would imagine it is more difficult for the P4s to raise outside $$ for basketball than it is football. This didn't level the playing field, but I do think it cranked things a few degrees in the right direction. How much remains to be seen

I interpret the post to be that the confernce avg of what all teams in their respective conference has indicated they intend to allocate out of the their revenue share pool -

I also interpret it to exclude any NIL they have for Basketball , which would be additive

that is my take and I could be 100% wrong

You say that and then NC State pays Kevin Keatts $8 million to take a hike. For most P5 schools, I don't think it's either/or when it comes to NIL funding for football and basketball.

I wasn't sure where to put this but this is as good as any I suppose. If we are getting straight info from all sources, it is just possible that the House settlement will slightly rebalance things in favor of basketball-only mids that make the investment like VCU.

we’re around 3-4 for revenue sharing no?

The Avg Data listed is just that conference avg. for Rev. Sharing. Not available anywhere I have seen but if I had to guess I'd say the conf Avg for the A10 will be between 1.5 and 2. I don't have faith in Bern sitting a good min floor. So for Rev sharing VCU will be equal to or slightly above the middle of the P4's Now. non rev sharing NI. It has been stated that VCU last year was around $2 mil give or take. Using those two numbers as a base, we should be no less than $6mil in for mbb. MAny Px schools will far exceed that number. However, I find it hard to imagine if a school is going to rev share only $2 mil that they will have large amounts of non Rev share NIL. so while there will still be schools we cannot compete with, we will be positioned to compete with lower mid Px Schools

If you are a P4 getting 5 mil in revenue sharing for basketball, then you are likely to have 2-5 mill more in NIL donations. You aren't paying a coach $3 million and then undercut him in the conference by limiting NIL dollars even if you are a big football school.
I was also listening to a sports talk show and they indicated that to beat the 20 mil cap on total money available, some of the big programs are offering "Signing bonuses" to some players which would be outside of NIL cap monies.

big east is the only conference averaging over 5 mil for bball rev sharing

ELI5. Please.

Don't know exactly how to interpret the meaning regarding conference membership. Are settlement dollars (SD) dependent on the conference you are in? Could you lose SD, increase SD, decrease SD if you moved to different conferences. How do SD currently work?

Promotion/ relegation?

I will say this... that could really drive fandom among the smaller schools and make it exciting at the end of the season. And then maybe make the NCAA tournament like the Champions League? So you get some small schools with great seasons meeting the bigger schools in the top divisions... yes please.
