I will say this... that could really drive fandom among the smaller schools and make it exciting at the end of the season. And then maybe make the NCAA tournament like the Champions League? So you get some small schools with great seasons meeting the bigger schools in the top divisions... yes please.
You'd need one cohesive "tv deal" like the Premiership has
Domestic Broadcasting...each team gets (around) 40 million. Teams share a portion of International broadcasting around (72 million), some portion paid out of the Central Commercial Revenue fund...Merit payment (higher ranked teams get a little more than mid or lower)
Clubs also receive additional broadcasting revenue on an individual basis (Facility Fees) based on the number of times their games were televised in the UK. Last season, Arsenal were shown on television the most (31 times), which resulted in an additional $34.9 million of broadcast revenue. Burnley, on the other hand, were shown the fewest times (10) and received $12.1 million.
Of course, the EPL only has 20 teams, 24 for the Championship...don't know about L1/L2/and below
That would be a helluva project for someone to figure out....conference-less basketball with one over arching TV/Streaming entity.
