Kenny Harris is getting his high school jersey retired tonight at 7 p.m. and it's free to the public. It will be held in the Petersburg High School cafeteria. Hopefully some Ram fans can make it out to appreciate his contributions to the VCU program as well.
Some of you may remember Kenny Harris from VCU's days in the Metro Conference. His most memorable moment has to be from Feb. 20th, 1993 when he willed us back into the USF game down 26 points with 10 minutes to go with 30 points in the last 15 minutes of the game to lead the Rams to victory at South Florida. His performance is forever cemented as one of VCU's 'Great Moments in Rams' History'. Here's the video from VCUAthletics on the special performance.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2zfyNxglJo

Congratulations Kenny! Once a Ram, always a Ram!

Three retired basketball jerseys hang on the wall in Petersburg High's William Lawson Jr. Gymnasium. They belong to Moses Malone, Mark West and Darrell Stith.
A fourth will go up tomorrow night, and it belongs to guard Kenny Harris.
Harris wore No.12. He graduated in 1989 after a stellar career for the Wave. He scored more than 1,000 points (put up 50 against archrival Hopewell in one game), was an all-state first-team selection and was recruited to the University of North Carolina.
Harris left UNC after a year and returned to his home area where he had a successful career at Virginia Commonwealth University. Eddie Webb, then an assistant at VCU, had recruited Harris.
A reception will be held in the school cafeteria tonight at 7. The event is free. Harris' jersey will be retired officially tomorrow (weather permitting) during the Wave's game against Hopewell.
