Former Recruits and Players

Penn State isn't looking too great this season for a B10 team. Its going to be A LONG season for Mike explaining why they keep losing. Its going to be a matchup nightmare for Mike in B10. He has no size on the team.

Never could coach big men when he had them.

So I did a little research on Penn St. this year and how the team is shaping up. They look to be a bottom feeder in the retooled Big10 according to pollsters. If they end up 17 of 18 as predicted, that is extremely disappointing for their fans. One season preview I read made me laugh as he lauded the accomplishment of finishing above Maryland, Rutgers, and Michigan last year. A quote from Mike and Ace about him coming back to win a championship had me confused. they are not winning any titles this year. Not sure how Mike turns it around, just doesn't appear he has the talent and coaching chops to overcome the deficit.

In an interview he said that Ace went through some pro level training this off season. It will be interesting to see the results. Generally, you don't see an undersized guard make it in P6 conferences.

Yeah that Mugsy Bouges guy was garbage, oh an dhow about Spud Webb, or that little guy with Kyle Lowry. Chris Paul, Mike Conley all 6 feet all had great careers at. P6 schools and they are just the guys who made it to the NBA.

Ace is a big guy just shorter listed at 6’1 same as Trey Young, TJ McConnell, Scottie Pippen Jr. again all guys that had great collegiate careers at P6 level.

Then off the top of my head a few Big 10 small but excellent guys Dee Brown (Uof I, 1st AA, College POY, led team to NCAA runner up, Big 10 POY, Big 10 Defensive POY) ) Scoonie Penn 5’11 (former Big East Rookie of the Year, 2X Big Ten First team, Naismith Award Winner, Co- Big Ten POY 2nd team AA)

Yep I guess you are right those little guys dont stand a chance in the P6.

2023-24 Big Ten conference defensive player of the year and 3rd team all Big 10 - ACE can play! - he HAS made it in a P6

Preseason 2024-25 Big 10 player of the year is Braden Smith at Purdue 6'0" tall

They'll be better than 17th but not a ton better. 14th-16th
as bad as they were last year they did win 9 games in conference (9-11) tied for 9th of 14 in 23-24 (one game out of tieing for 6th (7-3 at home with home victories over two ranked teams Illinois and Iowa)
would not count PSU out from getting to .500 in conference

and no I am not a PSU fan - MR finds ways to compete with whatever talent he has

but would be shocked to see them make NCAA tourney - other than big 12 the Big 10 is a juggernaut of a conference in B-ball with a strong homecourt advantage for most teams

Go Ace and Nick!
