FJ: I visited VCU, and I liked UNCW better. Also, at the time they hadn't been to the (NCAA) Tournament yet. After they made it the Final Four, I was kind of kicking myself (laughs). I just felt like UNCW was the best fit for me.

how is uncw ever a better fit? Even without the final four, uncw isn't nearly the winning program that we are in the last 10 years. Maybe he loves the beach?

It was a better fit because he found out in the middle of his recruitment that his girlfriend was pregnant with his child. Being that Wilmington is his hometown that changes things a whole lot. UNCW got a good player that we wanted, but things were not quite as cut and dry as just looking at our programs and making a decision. Even by his own admission he was kicking himself after March.

He was on our campus the maximum number of visits allowed by the NCAA. We definitely wanted him, but we ended up doing more than alright with Briante Weber I think. If we get Jackson, we don't get Weber. In hindsight we got a better player I think, at least as far as you can tell from the early returns.
