i say you turn the founders room and upstairs offices into into club level suites and seating

And move the big donors up there and let them partake in all the free chex mix they can eat all game long!! Students belong on the sideline.

Also there is nothing more annoying then the chairs at the baseline being occupied by people who obviously have no interest in VCU. I know these are sponsor allotments but if the sponsors had a box they would not be taking up prime seats.

Thats the problem. They're not all sponsors. Actually, I'd wager that the majority of the sponsors are on the other side of the court.

The C section, at least, seems to be almost entirely RAF donors and genuine fans. Moving them to a box would NOT fly.

Then move the sponsors from the other side! Could you imagine putting students that close to the opposing team's bench? Sweet. The sponsor seats just get on my nerves. Half the time their empty and when they do give tickets to someone they have no interest it seems in being there.

If these are sponsors then they are:

1) a person who vouches or is responsible for a person or thing.

or

2) a person, firm, organization, etc., that finances and buys the time to broadcast a radio or television program so as to advertise a product.

Both being responsibe for and or providing finances for VCU fits the definition of persons who have interest in VCU. Just because they may not be as 'passionate' as you doesn't mean they are not needed, or welcome. Please stop bashing folks who are helping our program.

a lot of you don't realize that this a business. Without the $$$ nothing else would be possible.

I absolutely understand both above mentioned points. I am also familiar with how sponsors allocate tickets. Sponsors also receive tickets based upon buying level. Sponsors receive these tickets and some may not have a lick of interest in VCU and just see VCU as a wonderful marketing strategy.

I'm not saying all sponsors are like this, in fact the vast majority are more than likely not. But at the same time just because your company sponsors VCU basketball does not necessarily mean that you are a fan, or the people your company sends to the game will be fans or the people who pick up tickets for a particular game are fans.

Are you talking about behind their bench? I think you're asking for trouble doing that. Plus aren't the seats behind the opposing team's bench reserved for their family and fans who travel to the game?

Agreed, after Norwood took away our sideline student section, they decided for the foreseeable future that the students wouldn't be back on the sideline for a while.

God forbid students stand up and block the donors view and take up valuable seats that the athletic department could be charging for.

yeah, the CAA requires that at least 50 seats behind the visitors' bench be made available to the visiting team

2.11 Tickets. There shall be a limit of seventy-five (75) complimentary tickets (including 50 behind the visiting team bench) in basketball provided by the host institution and any number above that shall be paid for by the visiting institution. Each institution will mail the 75 tickets to the visiting team’s ticket manager for every men’s and women’s basketball conference game at least two weeks prior to the game. The visiting team is responsible for preparing the complimentary ticket list and putting the tickets into “will call” envelopes and delivering the tickets and the list back to the ticket office of the host institution prior to the game. In addition, four tickets, one parking pass and hospitality pass(es) should be sent to the athletic director at least two weeks prior the game for special guests. [Revised: May 1996; May 2001]
