How wild would it be if Kasey committed to South Florida and had to come in his freshman year to the Stu? I'm told USF will likely be an option for Kasey. It would be nice to give him an L and let him see what he passed on before going back to his 1/4 full games at USF. ;)

the house would be packed and he would probably sitting be on the bench. I bet a little chant could get started too. :? :D

a little chant? I guarantee itll get brutal for him if he gets any minutes at all

Vilarino will be transferring to Appalachian State to play for new head coach Jason Capel (brother of former VCU coach Jeff Capel).

Former Gonzaga Bulldogs guard G.J. Vilarino has decided to continue his playing career at Appalachian State, his father Gerry said Sunday.

Vilarino played in 25 games as a freshman at GU. He averaged 7.8 minutes and 2.3 points. He made 47.4 percent of his field-goal attempts.

“This particular situation is one that they’re going to build a team around him basically,” Gerry Vilarino said. “They’re going to give him a chance to have the ball in his hands early on. The relationship part was so important and he has a really good relationship with the coaching staff.”

From Kentucky to Gonzaga and finally to ASU and his Dad announces they are basically going to build a team around him? Give me a break. His Dad needs to learn to keep his trap shut.

I'm glad we declined to show any interest.

I'm amazed at how reckless his dad is talking (STILL). What does it say about Jason Capel and his potential recruiting if this guy, from Gonzaga, comes in a year later and is the focal point of their team? I would think by the time he's eligible at App State Jason will have a nice setup of JUCOs/other transfers - not sure how dad is so confident about this (enough to say it to the media!!).

This guy's going to run the risk of having to play DII ball; what are his other options if ASU doesn't work out? Jason has a chance to build a completely different looking team down there - I doubt he'd put all his eggs in one basket (especially when the one thing I would think he'd be able to do is recruit well).

What a shame. He's probably a pretty good kid..... but it sounds like he has a complete MORON for a father. Geez- I know what that's like!! Just kidding.... ;) :D But the kid apparently has to pay with his career- for his fathers mouth. Something about the Dad writing the checks.... and GJ having to.... well- you know what I mean. This is a shame, but we are sooo much better off without having had to deal with this guy (the Father). How many times have we seen similar situ's? We're better off. I do hope the old man shuts up long enough for the guy to try and enjoy his basketball career.

Several of these guys should all transfer to one team- somewhere like Florida International. And call it the "All Big-Mouth Dad Team." I believe we may know a couple of others that could round the team out nicely!

I attribute much of JRod's growth as a man and a basketball player to his father. I have never met the man, but from all accounts he has been a steady influence and always there to help Joey make the right decisions. Always doing it in the background while letting his son call the shots.

this is but a sample of the BS coaches deal with recruiting players. You recruit the entire package..family, posse (unfortunately in some cases),high school coach, AAU coach, heck probably the rec league coach that had him as a 6 yr old that got him to the right AAU program....man it must be aggravating/frustrating to deal with this stuff
