It will be interesting to see what the total impact on this team will be when we have both Jay and Jamie on board. Jay's impact has been amazing and I'm of the opinion he still has some rust to shed and is still getting acclimated after missing 18 months of action. At the end of the day I believe Jay will be one of, if not the best, long range shooter in the CAA. A number of D-I coaches have told me the same thing. What has really impressed me about Jay however is his smart play, willingness to drive to the hoop, and his passing game. He has really developed his all around game while sitting out.

What excites me about Jamie is that he is not your typical CAA player. I've seen Jamie play since his Sophmore year in high school and he is a tremendous talent. Were talking about a top 50 player here who started as a Frosh in the ACC. The CAA does not see too many 6'9" 245lb. guys that can play above the rim or drift out and nail a trey. He has an impressive skill-set. Obviously what we don't know is how long it will take him to get rid of the rust and assimulate into the new system. This will be important because with Terrances injury I believe our most glaring weakness is at the 4. This is not a knock on T.J. as I admire him as a player, but we are just too undersized at the 4 position. I think in time Jamie could be a game changer here.

Let's hope he comes as ready to play as apparently Jay has!

With his past knee problems and the bulk Wake Forest wanted to add to his frame, can he still play above the rim?

Larry hits from inside and OUTSIDE....lol.

Capel actually alluded to this and I hope Michael included that into our video (which will be up in a matter of minutes)...just about how good this team can be when Skeen is active.

Outside of just having shots fall, the difference last night was clearly how much more we attacked the basket with our guards. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of that, and once we can add that additional 6'8 body in the rotation, I think this team is going to get better and better.

It's very easy to see why he is the starting 2 guard for us....one of those guys who just seems to do it all. Best part is that we have him for 3 years! :D

Yup. That's what is unreal about it. He's already one of the top marksman in our conference and he's just a sophomore. Just a great addition to this team. If we had him last year playing with Eric, we would have been scary.

I know Skeen will be eligible next semester, but exactly when is that? Which game will be his debut?

Tulane

He is actually eligible as soon as the first semester is over rather than the start of the second.

Chill - in answer to your question I have not seen Jamie play since he left Wake Forest. As I indicated earlier I saw him play in high school and of course later at Wake. He was in fact more slender at that time and often played above the rim. How much the added weight and some injury problems have impacted him I don't know. He had a couple of double-doubles while at Wake and really has a nice skill-set. From my perspective he is not your typical CAA big-man.

For what it's worth, both Grants staff and Smarts staff have told me the same thing - that Jamie is a great talent but has to want to do it "all the time."

If this guy can shake off the rust pretty quickly like Jay has and he comes out highly motivated look-out. I think he is going to be a good scorer and terriffic rebounder for us.

As far as those saying he must prove himself on the court I can't totally disagree, but Jamie started as a Frosh on a good team in the ACC.

If Gavin plays smart defense he will be a beast in the CAA, just as Larry I think teams attempt to draw fouls on him to get him out of the game.

I can't wait to see Skeen on the court. VCU will have an awesome season....let's hope everyone stays healthy.
