Gene Smith explains selection decisions

I think that what it comes down to is the power conference teams can't just sit at home and play games and they can't schedule cupcakes like CO did and have a 12 game preseason warmup just waiting for the conference games to start.

heck, if we had 12 games to warmup at home and fix our deficiencies I think we would have rolled in the CAA.

What gets me is the talking heads at ESPN have no problem with Clemson being in but UAB and VCU are a farce...wtf! That right there shows that these guys are so delusional it is pathetic.

This just means that power conference teams can still sit and home and go on the road to cupcakes... it's just ALL of them can't.

They still can, but they were warned a few years ago that if you choose to do that don't complain if you get left out. Of course they have the talking heads at ESPN to do the complaining for them.

I was listening to Paul from CBS on the radio a few mins ago doing an interiew with WJFK, the Fan in DC. They were having a big discussion before he came on about how Tech could possibly have been left out and the whole state is laughing at them. this what he said " the committee got them all right, no doubt abound it in his mind. The committee realizes that this tournament is all played away, not on your home court, so teams must prove they can win on the road. As far as VCU, he said we beat 10 top 100 teams and 8 of those were on the road. Va Tech didn't beat hardly anyone on the road . Clear and simply if you look at the teams that didn't make it.

The DC Media is a tough bunch, and we don't like whiners. Up here we call Virginia Tech's coach "Seth Queenberg" because he's a drama queen. He's a running joke. Had his team been in the PIG instead of USC, he'd probably be moaning about how he has to play an additional game before getting to play Georgetown.

Then again, we're used to the fiery Gary Williams and his teams getting snubbed every other year. At least Williams doesn't cry like a baby on ESPN and CBS College Sports (though he does do an awful lot of talking about mid-majors not being deserving teams when they go into the Comcast Center and beat his Terps).
