This kid just came to the states from from Senegal I believe in July/August. He has hit the radar but I don't see where anyone is recruiting him, yet. He is playing for Huntington Prep. Talk about a sleeper.

We are not linked to him in that I am aware of, but maybe one of the coaches will see this.....

Gorgui Sy Dieng 610 C, Papa Samba Ndao 6 9PF, Ugo Okam 7 1C

I assume because you didnt post anything said in the article about a scouting report on him that you dont have a membership to see it.

A couple months ago Dieng was in the Nike global challenge playing for Senegal and they upset the US team 66-65 in a game which both teams shot awful percentages. Also on that team is another intriguing prospect from Florida in Papa Samba Ndao who is a 6 9" 210lb PF who is ranked 30th by ESPN with a rating of 92; 3 star from rivals and 3 star #35 SF from scout. Both teams Ndao has offers from BC, SMU and TCU so I think we could compete with those schools if we got involved. Stats from the global challenge.

Top Performers - Team Senegal: Papa Samba Ndao - 17pts, 8rbs, 2blk. Gorgui Sy Dieng 16pts, 11rbs, 5stl.

Day 2 of the camp had Senegal playing Canada in which Dieng had 21pts, 6 rebounds and 4 blks.
In the end Dieng made the all tournament team for the internationals.

The listings i found on Dieng list him at 6' 10" 190 so he will certainly need to get some weight added to his frame. I wonder if them playing on the same international team might make them want to play together at the collegiate level and both sound like intriguing prospects with size that we need so i would be down for pursuing either and/or both. Also in that vain Ndao goes to well known Montverde Academy and they also have another big man prospect that is still available in Ugo Okam who is 7' 1" 240 lbs, 2 star from scout and 87 (51st center) from ESPN. So there are 3 big prospects to consider that we are not currently linked to that I know of, but at least Dieng and Okam are not to my knowledge having offers from others.

Maybe someone with a membership can go on what it is says about Dieng and if there are schools in on him already.

Ndao:
July, 2009: Papa was outstanding throughout the two day event (Big Shots I Myrtle Beach). This 6-8 athletic wing took the ball strong to the basket, used his speed to score easily in transition and played with explosion on both ends of the floor. Papa is a smooth operator who uses a quick a first step to beat his man off the dribble to get to the basket. He is an excellent on the ball defender who is difficult to break down off the dribble and with his length is hard to get shots over. He pursues the basketball when the shot goes up to corral the rebound and start the break.

January, 2009: Ndao has a great deal of upside, but he also has a high level of skill in addition to his potential. He has very good length and with more muscle, Ndao could become a devastating, versatile force on the interior. He has the ability to stroke jumpers from 3-point range as well as score in the paint. Ndao will also look to put the ball on the floor to get into the paint, but he has to get significantly stronger to score in the paint with contact. He plays good defense and hits the board very well on both ends. Ndao has very good passing skills and vision and does not force the issue on the offensive end very often.

Okam:
July, 2009: Okam is an intriguing prospect. He has off the charts, size, length and athletic ability. He runs the floor like a deer and can finish above the rim with little effort. He is extremely raw skill wise and must improve his hands especially in traffic. Okam is a work in progress as he seems to be very new to the game. He plays with great effort and urgency and competes the entire time he is on the floor. Okam understands how to screen and roll and can finish if there is not contact involved. He must learn to post lower in order to have a stronger base but this young man has big time upside because his body and athletic ability is high major. He is a decent rebounder but should be better for a player his size. Okam simply needs to play as much as possible.

Well scratch Okam as he committed to powerhouse...eh Harvard.

*Edit* I did forget momentarily that Amaker is there so with his name and being from the Ivy with a few good recruits as he has for 2010 they could win the Ivy easily and the academic standing is well known.

Apparently Dieng is down to Louisville and Kentucky now, although he's being pursued by a ton of Big East and SEC schools.
