sorry didnt get a chance to post this sooner...so after the game is over and we finish our celebration inside the arena i walk out to the concourse with D.J's mom and brother and sister and aunt and brad burgess' dad and uncle and Joey's dad and brother and i believe brandons mom. We were directed outside to the team bus to wait to see the team before they departed to the airport. the director of security took us outside. The parents and family all wanted to see their sons. A friend and i went with them. We sat with D.J's family yesterday and ate with them at the sports bar before the game - terrific family.
So we are waiting outside by the bus and its raining. we are out there about 20 minutes still waiting. D.J. calls his mom and we all yell "hey D.J."...about 5 minutes later D.J. calls his mom back and asks "where are you." his mom says - waiting for you by the bus. D.J. replies "we are inside watching the 2nd game !"
so we all run back to the security entrance and they wont let us back in. a young dude says he cant help us and directs us around to the next entrance. We go in and we all have our tickets but they wont let us back inside ! People who want to go outside and smoke can get their hand stamped but the security/ushers would not let the parents back in to see thier sons. One of the guys was a jerk to Joey's dad and said "sorry but you are not getting back in" or something to that effect. Joe was hot. He said "you can call them to come up here" so Joe calls Joey and Joey and Ed and D.J. all come up to greet us. We chatted for a few minutes and gave em hugs and just basked in the glow of it all. Finally when the guys get ready to go back in the security people decide its ok for us to go in too now ! Are you kidding me !
I went down the conscourse and saw juvonte by himself. told him he picked a good game to finally break out ! Jamie was there too with his folks i think - gave him a hug and told him great game. Asked how he felt and he said "great - i am ready to play again tomorrow" special time with a great group of guys ! Would not have missed it for anything. We have a terrific group of young men represeting VCU !
