When I was in Chicago in March (forget what I was doing just now), I experienced Guinness on draft unlike anything I had ever had before. That and Murphy's on draft was just terrific beer. Anybody know if the Guinness on draft around here is that quality? If so, where? (probably a British pub, or the closest thing to it we have here).

well.

The best Guinness Draft around here would have to go to Bogarts in the fan. IMO most joints you find here in the USA are going to be about the same - i think the pour does play a part in the quality of the pint.

I am told that Guinness sells different formulas regionally (edit: global regions). I have not been able to order one outside the country yet.

it's the only beer I'll drink if it's on draft at a bar.

Beer, being liquid bread, is the better being the freshest possible. Hence the popularity of brew pubs.

O'Tooles used to have Guinness on tap, along with Harp lager, which combined imho is the best tasting black and tan.

Penny Lane Pub hasn't been the same since Terry O'Neill and Tommy Goulding split up and Tommy opened Rosie Connolly's down by the Farmer's Market in Shockoe Bottom. I love Penny Lane, but I love Rosie's more!

My vote for the best Guinness in town is definitely from Tommy at Rosie Connolly's. That's where I'm going the Friday after Easter! They pour it with the shamrock in the foam head, something I haven't seen at Penny Lane in a very long time.

Don't take my word for it. Hear it from the man himself!
