If the seniors aren't stepping up then who is going to lead this team? Honestly between Joey, Brandon, Ed and Jamie we should have a few. But I feel the one person who could become a great leader is Big Shot. We need someone to take control, someone to call others out on the floor for mistakes, someone to keep this team focused. Who steps up?

Mods you can delete this... I didn't see the "L" word thread until after this post. My apologies to all.

Sadly for the seniors I think most of them are what they are. If we had a leader on the team they would have stepped up by now.

that's how I feel. I think Joey has some leadership potential, but I don't see it in the other guys. Brad has potential though!

You can't make a leader. The leader is who steps forward to lead. Joey has done that and is the leader but give the kid a break. When was the last time he stepped on the court and wasn't hurt? UNC-G? Thinking forward to next year with all the seniors gone, it will be interesting to see who steps forward and takes ownership of the team. Brad, Toby, Darius, Rob, Juvonte? My guess is we may know by the end of this season.

Why does he deserve a break? He gets hurt, those are the breaks.

This is spot on!

The comparison between Skeen and Fameni last week didn't address this issue. Because of Maynor, people tend to forget that Wil was a leader and almost like a coach on the Court. His head was always in the game and he did a good job of making sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to do.

Heck TJ Gwynn used to be the same way. I remember watching him during the game and it seemed like he was always directing people around and making sure they were in the right spot etc.

I tend to think of BA Walker, Jamal Schuler and Jesse Pellot-Rosa as more of floor leaders than Fameni was. Don't get me started on this again.

I was just getting ready to post the same thing, and have been meaning to ever since this leadership talk started. I think we lost more than many people realize in TJ Gwynn. I think having guys like Wil, Eric, and TJ on the team helped our bigs along as far as being in position to get easy shots. Particularly Larry. Who knows who that guy will be from here out.

It amazes me how people determine leadership solely on interaction they see on the court. Its almost as if we would be better off if players and coaches put on a show to make people "feel" like leadership is on display. I would guess very few of us are privy to what goes on in the locker room, at practice, during work outs, etc.

The best leadership I've seen on display was Maynor hitting big shots when the team needed it. If we find someone to even somewhat duplicate that, we have our leader (in a meaningful way).

If it is happening during practice, in the locker and other places most fans aren't privy to, don't you think we'd see it in some way on the floor during games? I do.

Examples? Getting in someone's face? Kicking a chair?

I think Dom was the leader of the 2004 team, but other than POY performances I don't recall a lot of overt leadership demonstrations. Someone chime in if you know otherwise.

I determine a lot of things by what I see on the court, and what I don't see on the court. I would like to see our players rush to another player and help him up, before he has to ask for the courtesy, If that is considered a show, then we're in trouble. I've seen enough to know that we have the talent to be very special, I hope we have the unity, because it takes both. GO RAMS!!
