The page for this year's HC Chill & Grill on facebook mentions that the event is no longer BYOB and that beer and wine will be for sale on site through a vendor. Weak.

there goes the administration again...its like they do not understand that we do not have football so this is our one chance to tailgate all year long. My prediction is that they will hear tons of complaints from the older folks there (hopefully) and it will be back to normal next year.

Nothing worse than hearing 'bear vendor' at any event....4 bucks for a 16oz. bud light. Ugh.

Hopefully people will voice their displeasure by not buying a spot and not showing up!!! Village anyone?

DickLaw.....get on that paper son!

How in the world do you attend a boycott?

I am in (or out?) though, if I have to buy on location I would much rather that location be the Village then an empty parking lot.

I remember when they started this event, it was great, and one of the best moves for fans the administration has made! Yet over the past few years they have continued to mess it up more and more! Why can't people leave a good thing alone! Whether it be poor management, the feeling of alumni being pushed to the back, or this new no BYOB crap, I think it is time to let our displeasure be heard and move on! We need to find a local business willing to offer up a lot, pool our money for the event license, and throw our own tailgate! I know I would be willing to chip in some funds! Let's start researching and find out what we have to do to pull off an event like this, and show the admin we won't tolerate this BS!

Is there anywhere close to campus where we can organize our own tailgate??

Maybe now with new owners the ukrops lot might be available, or the lot attached the other grocery store behind siegel?

A major part of the Chill and Grill attendance is the Greek community. I imagine they would be equally displeased at this latest move. If you get the word out to them, then poof... empty parking lot on Homecoming.

Can you imagine a tailgate with no cars and just a few people there. Everyone will be in that little tent buying overpriced food and drinks.

Way to go, VCU Administration. You've successfully killed a popular and growing tradition.

The owners of the Ukrops site across from the SC? That would be VCU.

Fill me in on what I must be missing...why would you boycott the Chill and Grill?

I've got a spot and am looking forward to doing damage to that beer truck!

Namely because why would I want to pay stadium prices for a beer that I don't like, when I could bring whatever libation I want? When you couple that with the other changes over the years (separating the alumni out, limiting the space), it's just become too regulated.

I understand wanting to cut down on underage and irresponsible drinking. To do that, hire more security, and arrest folks breaking the law. Don't do it by impeding on the enjoyment of adults drinking responsibly.
