The point guard position was far and away the deepest in the 2009 NBA Draft. An incredible 11 lead guards were selected in the first round and there were a total of 17 drafted overall. There is a similar amount of depth at power forward in the 2010 draft and it's not comprised of many freshmen or international players either, although the top ranked power forward is Lithuania's Donatas Motiejunas. It's mainly players who have put definite professional careers on hold to stick around school, something we don't see anywhere near often enough.
For those teams looks for a strong defensive presence from their power forward there are two prime candidates in Larry Sanders from Virginia Commonwealth and Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado. Varnado leads the country with an absurd 5.3 shots erased a contest, while the 6'11 Sanders averages 2.4. The two are specialists at this point as their shot blocking skills far surpass the others in their game, but they've come a long ways in become more well-rounded players.
