Even though there are times when fair weather fans like the OP come on here and bash our current coach and I choose to defend him by pointing to some of the struggles of our former coach I have no hate in my heart for Grant. I don't necessarily need to see him cutting down any nets at another school either, but I guess I am kinda over it. I couldn't be more excited about VCU getting in and really didn't pay attention to Alabama after I saw our name on the screen. It is somewhat ironic that we got an at large and he did not even though he is at a "higher profile" school, but honestly that really isn't the reason he left VCU in the first place.

I do enjoy that part of it. Maybe it will encourage Smart to stick around. Between Smart, Grant, and Capel I am pretty sure Smart was the only one smiling tonight.
 
Why is this even a thread? Grant is gone and this is a GREAT WEEK for VCU basketball. If we want to stop the comparisons then both sides need to give it a break. By the way Grant could very well come in here (STU) and smash us next year . Grant has one of the best recruiting classes and a very good big man, plus a good point returning.

They have gone through a lot of adversity, some of it self inflicted but adversity, none the less and have reached the pinnacle for a mid major.

The only thing I dislike about Grant was that he tried to take Sanders with him and he took our committed recruit.

Can't blame him. The kid was coming to play for Grant. He could have stayed and he made the decision to go to Bama. Grant didn't force him to do anything.

It's not about blaming Eblen, it's about Grant's unethical behavior.

I don't think it's unethical at all. Eblen wasn't coming here the second Grant left, why not take him with him?

well, Eblen had signed with VCU, but he's not really the issue, it's the attempt to talk Larry into leaving that was flat out unethical ...if you don't see the issues in this, I have to wonder

First I'm hearing of it, and if it's true I'd have to agree with you. Generally, however, I like to get the facts from a credible source and not someone named artRAMinMN on a message board. I’m not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but there is always a lot of bitter feelings towards coaches when they leave so I’m not sure what’s fact vs fiction.
