This week is huge for the CAA and the top 6 teams... many top head to head matchups...several on TV
This Tues we are @GMU @JMU and then end the week with Drexel next Tues in two critical games that could be pivotal in the race - I am going to be a homer and say 3-0 for us

Mason has us at home, then @ ODU and then W&M home... 0-3 possible and a possible nail in the coffin or 2-1 and on a roll again...who knows with that team - I am going with 1-2 for them

W&M has UD Home, NU Home, @Mason - I say 1-2 for the tribe

DU has @HU, UD Home, at VCU - UD plays them tough, HU should not be a gimmie... they could go 0-3 but I do not see they being swept by UD and they handled HU last time...I will say 2-1

ODU and NU probably have the easiest week of the top teams...
ODU @JMU, GMU and Towson Home... beware of overlooking JMU to GMU even though they just lost to Towson... - as much as it pains me I think 3-0

NU has GSU Home, @ W&M @ UNCW - you just never know what they are going to do on the road but I think they go 3-0

So next Tues Night we have
NU - 14-2
ODU - 13-3
VCU 12-4
GMU - 11-5
DU - 11-5
W&M - 9-7

Now I am going to go get my lottery ticket... :D

I hope DU drops one I do not expect because they really have one of the easiest remaining schedules of the top 6 with their last two being UNCW home and @JMU while we have JMU Home and @ODU...

should be interesting... and this years conference games could be the best in many years...it will be interesting to see NU and W&M fan turnout this year...

dont we at this point officially control our own destiny for the 2 seed? if that's the case it really doesnt matter what anyone else does, just us taking care of our own business. run the table and we finish 2nd as i dont see 3 games NU should lose; we would have the breakers against ODU and GMU and go rolling into the tourney.

If we win out that only puts us at 14-4 and if either ODU or GMU won out besides our loss they would also be 14-4 and go to tiebreakers...we would have it head to head but then have to look at top wins and we may lose on that...have to look it up...I doubt any of us do that though...as I said should be interesting and the last day in conf could be huge and decide it all...with us at ODU and NU@GMU, and DU at JMU

we got swept by NU so that goes against us - ODU and GMU both lost in their only games with NU so far and ODU does not play them again...we have to see what they do in their next game against each other and how we do against both of them...

If we sweep, we'll be 14-4, and will hold the tie-breakers by virtue of being 1-0 vs GMU and 2-0 vs ODU. Records against other teams wouldn't matter, because h2h is the first tiebreaker.

exactly. that is what i was thinking unless Jeff is talking about a scenario where 4 teams end up 14-4, then it could get crazy i guess.

If that happens we would be 3-2 vs ODU, NU and Mason.

NU would most likely be 4-1, so they would get the top seed.

After that they would refigure the records again, and VCU would be 3-0 vs Mason and ODU and still be in 2nd.

The only way we overtake 1st is to run the table and have Northeastern lose 3 of their last 5 (which is unlikely, given that they have only 2 real challenges left- @Mason and @WM. I seriously doubt they'll lose to Hofstra or GSU at home, or UNCW on the road).

Yea, but Championships and seeding are two different things.

If we win out and NU loses two games, then we would be tied for first place and would be co-Champions.

I am NOT saying that will happen. But if it did, we would have our forth Championship in 4 years.

Couple interesting tid-bits for this morning:

URI is now RANKED. So for now, we have beaten a RANKED team. if ur goes on a run, they may be next.

Palm has had ODU as an at large for the past couple weeks. Even with their loss to us he still has them in. He dropped their seed some, now at an 11 seed, but they are still in. That is our at-large to take, IMO. Win out and the tournament won't matter for us.

I agree that if we win out we would have the best case for an at large in the conference. The problem with the Tick, Rams thing is they play each other tomorrow so one of them has to lose. Other than that URI then goes to Temple and has a game vs Charlotte (current leader of A-10) late in the year. Besides those 3 games URI should run the table. Richmond is at Rhode Island tomorrow and then has a brutal last 3 games @Xavier, Dayton, @Charlotte. If both somehow manage to get thru with 1 loss the rest of the way it would be possible for them to both be ranked end of the year.

I agree.

Most importantly I think the selection committee will look at our place in the conf to help determine a potential at large bid. I can't see a 4th place CAA team getting an at large.

didnt we technically already beat a ranked team in Oklahoma...even if they did go on to poop the bed in the following week or two, that game will always stand as the first ranked team that VCU beat at the Stu if im not mistaken.

I'll say we finish 13-5 in the CAA. Good enough for 3rd or 4th place. The CAA tourny, well, thats going to be wacky this year...

Yes, I believe technically Oklahoma is the only ranked team that we have beaten because they are the only team that has been ranked at the time that we played them. The URI win, while it won't go down in the record books as a win over a ranked team, would carry a lot more weight on Selection Sunday if they are still ranked at the end of the season. URI has been playing like a ranked team all season, they are just now being recognized for it though. The BCS schools might not want to play us, but I think we should be playing more top half A-10 teams. They don't get the same level of hype as BCS schools, but they are definitely resume builders if you can beat them.
