IF YOU COULD DESIGN OUR UNIFORM: WHAT WOULD BE THE LOOK

I liked last year uniform but I saw a couple of differnt teams with the same design. I would like to see a more unique design...something moore cutting edge..Perhaps a short sleeved v cut with oversised numbers ....the numbers would be yellow borderd by thick black lines sitting on top of a white Uni....The shorts would have a oversized rams head on each side and the letters VCU in the front across the waist area and smaller VCU letters on the left front corner of the shorts....Just interested in knowing does anyone think about having there own version of what our Uni's would look like if you could be the one to design them....so far we have had decent uniforms but I would like to see something really unique....any thoughts :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:
 
I like the fact UNC, Duke, and UCLA has the same design every year. The design of their uniform has become apart of their brand. It will be interesting to come up with a design that can last for a long time. This will help us with our branding.

I'd like to see our squad finally upgrade to the Nike System of a Dress style of uniforms just as our foes in Fairfax did last season. Also you can design your own custom uni's at www.niketeam.com
 
Black unis with gold numbers. home gold with black numbers bordered by white. Shorts not baggies, like from the 70's and 80's.
 
I wonder what are options really are when selecting a uniform each year? Having a deal with Nike...and not being a "high priority" school for them (UNC, Oregon, etc)...I wonder if we basically only have a choice of x, y, or z.

I'd love to see us in something very distinct...something pretty "retro" looking (with throwbacks being such big business..people seem to love that look, make folks want to own a VCU jersey even if they don't follow VCU).

I'd like to see that old Atlanta Hawks "Pistol" Pete era type jersey..but with black, white, and gold...

Something like that design but in a "modern size". I feel like the Pacers had a similar jersey but even better looking but I couldn't find it (think maybe I dreamt it up).
 
i think the jerseys should spell out the school name and mascot-- "virginia commonwealth rams"...wait nevermind, that would be totally dumb. no school in their right mind would actually do that.

VCU will be sporting the Nike System of Dress this season. Uniforms are modeled after Syracuse. Tight tops with baggy shorts. Each year Nike sends out a catalog with several uniform styles teams can choose from, each are named after a school. Last year's uniforms were "Colorado". I'm excited about these new unis, i think the NSOD looks sharp.
 
Whatever they decide to do sounds like we are going frock and Jock I just wish they would sell a couple tops and shorts on the athletics dept website
 
I would like to see a short sleeve shirt, although open underneath, with a Rams Head on each shoulder looking forward.

It's about time we upgraded to the latest and greatest. I loved our unis from two and three years ago becasue we were just a small handful of schools wearing that style (known as the Iowa gameday). I was appauled that the Ath Dept decided to change last year to the Colorado style..which by the way about half of the poopty teams in our conference were also donning.

darn skippy. Not only do they look sharp, they are the preferred style by the players. It's easy to discern who the old farts are on RamNation becuase they want the old "carboard material, high rise (show your balls), skin tight shorts" style uniforms. Personally I could care less about how baggy their shorts are, as long a they dont interfere with the ball during a cross up/over. Also the NSOD features a "fitted" jersey making it less easy to tub on to a players jersey, which is a regular occurance even in the NBA....Just my two thoughts

Oh and also, I prefer that we keep utilizing "VCU" as the name on our jerseys but would love for there to be an alternate (maybe the yellow jersey) that just saids "Commonwealth". God that would be sweet
 
As a an "old fart" I resent you lumping us all together. I too prefer the "frocks for jocks" NSOD. I would like to have something unique to us however in terms of insignia. For instance, on the side of shorts I would like to see some ram's horns, cut off at the bottom and with the contrasting color inside the horns. For instance black shorts with white horns and gold in the middle.

LOL, my apologies. I didn't say that all of you old farts wanted the old style, I was merely stating that it's easy to tell the difference in generations based on uniform appeals. I too would like a unique feature on our jerseys/shorts. If anyone has been to VA Book Company in the past month, they now carry a brand of shorts, Dodger, that has some pretty sweet designs. The shorts in particular that I'm thinking of are black with a large, white stripe from your waistline to your knees. Screenprinted on this thich white stripe are the letters VCU, spelled verticaly. I'd love to see our boys rocking a style similar to those this season, maybe with RAMS spelled out instead of VCU which I would imagine will be on our jerseys.
