In Shaka We Trust?

Does Smart just pick ideas out of a hat? This whole 4 guard lineup is insane. We continue to get killed on the glass, game after game. Tonight the rebounding totals:

Rams 20
GSU 37

And of course, Shaka went with the 4 guard again...thinking that Burgess is a power post player and Joey is a shooting guard.

I fully expect him to start Brandenburg at center on Wednesday. Clueless.

Copy-pasta from the thread titled "Fire Shaka Smart":

Losses to sub-.500 teams during Capel's tenure at VCU:

@ JMU (13-17, 2002-03)
@ W&M (12-16, 2002-03)
JMU (6-22! 2004-05)
@ Iona (15-16, 2004-05)
@ Appalachian State (14-16, 2005-06)
@ Towson (12-16, 2005-06)

That's just teams that finished below .500 overall, which doesn't include all of the teams that barely finished above .500 or that racked up wins against bottom-feeding SWAC and MEAC teams.

Oh, and just for kicks let's look at Anthony Grant's losses to sub-.500 teams during his time here:

@ JMU (13-17, 2007-08)
@ East Carolina (13-17, 2008-09)
@ Delaware (13-19, 2008-09)
@ UNC Wilmington (7-25!, 2008-09)

Again, that doesn't count losses to teams like Hampton, that finish above .500 because they play in an atrocious conference. But even then, you can see he had his share of flubs and stumbles.

My point? Don't laud Capel and Grant as though they didn't have their questionable losses (and these are the most questionable of the questionable).

VCU's best fans! Seriously, you guys must get off on watching this team fail!

The sky is falling. We lost a road Asscoiation game. Get over it girls.

Shaka has lost these guys...if he ever had them. They were not heartless before he got here. Say what you want about records and leadership, but Shaka lack of a backbone has rubbed off on this team. He is the cancer.

They do. Ram "fans" predicting .500 seasons aren't "fans" in my book.

Support the team. That might mean second-guessing, but bashing players and coaches like Whack-a-Mole reeks of fair-weather fandom.

Wonder if the radio crew spinned this a loss to a very good GSU team?

GSU could not beat:

Hampton
Samford
Western Michigan
Georgia Southern

But even their coach was able to patch enough together to put a better product on the floor than Smart. This is spinning out of control at a terrible pace. VCU hasnt played a good game against anyone of note, top to bottom, since UCLA.

The guys I'm most disappointed for are Nixon and Brandon, two seniors whove had to overcome a lot and seen coaches come and go. In their senior campaign, I'd sure like to see them have a more enjoyable year. Here's hoping they're keeping their chin up.

Who bashed a player?

The whole Joey at the 2 is getting old. Why on earth do we start our only pgs. Hopefully, to send a message Shaka doesn't start any seniors next game. The seniors on this team aside from skeen are really disappointing. I think Shaka is doing when he can with what he has. IMO Shaka has done more with less, than Grant did with 2 nba players.

Is this really possible this early in the season? Tonight was only the second CAA game. I'd like to know why no one is stepping up into the leadership role, just as most of us would... But to say the team has no heart and that Shaka has lost them? I don't buy it.

When you talk about "disappointed for", you make it seem like the players are the victims.

The truth of the matter is that the players are the ones who have to play. They are the ones who go out on the floor and make things happen. Brandon driving the lane should not happen. He is not a slasher. He is a perimeter shooter. When he drives the lane, things usually go badly.

He was missing a lot of shots too. Was that the coaches' fault?

....Against a bad team and have not played well against a good team since Thanksgiving. Nothing to be concerned about though, I'm sure you're right.
